RhönEnergie Fulda builds HPC charger in southern Germany

The municipal utility company RhönEnergie Fulda is expanding its charging station services nationwide: The company has now secured a framework agreement with GP Joule Connect to install 38 HPC charging stations in southern Germany.

RhönEnergie Fulda is a municipal energy and infrastructure company based in Fulda, Hesse. However, the provider is now significantly expanding its scope in the area of charging infrastructure: Specifically, officials state that they have signed a framework agreement for 38 fast-charging stations at twelve locations of a “major grocery retailer” in southern Germany. The name of the contracting partner is not disclosed, nor are the locations specified in more detail.

It is clear, however, that the 38 fast charging stations with capacities of up to 400 kW are set to be built soon and put into operation by summer 2027. According to the press photos, they are HPC devices from Alpitronic. For this project, RhönEnergie Fulda is working together with the charging infrastructure specialist GP Joule Connect. RhönEnergie Fulda handles the commercial operation of the charging infrastructure, while GP Joule Connect is responsible for planning, implementation, and technical operation of the fast charging stations.

RhönEnergie Fulda states that it already has experience with regional charging infrastructure, thanks to projects in Frankfurt am Main, Hannover, and Garching bei München. With the new framework contract, RhönEnergie is now following up on this. The municipal company emphasizes the strategic importance of this development: in addition to projects in the region, it is increasingly relying on regional partnerships and solutions for commercial and industrial customers to “further expand its expertise in planning, operating, and marketing charging infrastructure across the country.” According to the company, it has installed 1,000 charging points in total so far.

"To further advance electric mobility, we need efficient charging services at easily accessible locations," emphasizes Florian Michaelis, head of the E-Mobility department at RhönEnergie Fulda. "Together with strong partners, we can implement such projects efficiently and leverage our experience from numerous charging infrastructure projects beyond the Fulda region."
