Renault has launched its all-new all-electric Trafic van in the UK, with prices starting at £38,000, plus VAT.
Pre-orders for the brand new rival to the Ford E-Transit Custom are open now, with the first deliveries expected in quarter two of 2027.
The new Renault Trafic E-Tech comes with a choice of two wheelbases, two trim levels and panel or crew cab versions. It also comes with two battery options offering up to 292 miles of range.
Entry level vans get a 60kWh battery for “urban” operation. Renault is yet to confirm a WLTP range for that battery, but has said that the larger 81kWh unit will deliver up to 292 miles on a charge. Renault says that a heat pump, aerodynamic design and efficient energy management systems help deliver energy consumption of 3.6m/kWh – nearly 30% more efficient than nearest rivals.

Based on 800V architecture, the new Trafic brings ultra-rapid DC charging of up to 190kW for the larger battery, while the smaller unit is capped at 160kW. Both batteries will charge from 10-80% in under 20 minutes, cutting downtime for businesses which rely on their vans.
All versions of the Renault Trafic use a 215bhp/262lb ft motor which Renault says delivers all the pulling power it needs.
At launch, the Trafic E-Tech is available in two body lengths – 4.87m and 5.27m – offering between 5.1m3 and 5.8m3 of load space. Maximum payload is 1.3 tonnes and the Trafic can also tow up to two tonnes.
There’s just one body height which, at 1.89m, allows it to access many height restricted locations that catch out larger vans. It also boasts a turning circle of just 10.3 metres – the same as a Renault Clio – for easy manoeuvring even in tight urban environments.

All versions of the Trafic E-Tech qualify for the £5,000 plug-in van grant. With that and VAT factored in, on-the-road pricing starts at £41,715 for the L1H1 urban range model in Advance specification, and rises to £53,715 for the L2H1 long range model in Extra specification.
Both trim levels feature 16-inch steel wheels and auto-dipping LED headlights, and come with keyless entry and start, adaptive cruise control and a reversing camera backed up by front and rear parking sensors.
In the cabin, all versions get a 12.3-inch touchscreen supporting wireless Apple and Android mirroring, a 10-inch digital instrument display, manual air conditioning, under-seat storage and a wealth of open and lidded storage areas. The load area features vehicle-to-load hardware, a single sliding side door, twin rear doors, LED lighting and floor and side protection panels.
The Extra grade adds metallic paint, automatic air conditioning, wireless phone charging and on-board sat nav. It also adds lumbar support to the driver’s seat, adds a “mobile office” cabin configuration and curtain airbags. A load-through bulkhead, additional lashing points and 230V sockets in the cabin and load area complete the specification upgrade.
The Trafic is Renault’s first fully software defined vehicle and the French brand says this will allow it to evolve throughout its working life with over-the-air updates, additional features and customisable applications.
Renault says the Trafic’s on-screen operating system allows businesses to integrate their own applications directly into the vehicle’s systems. This can range from delivery companies displaying schedules, routes and job details on the dashboard to onboard management for refrigerated vans.
