Renault lowers the list price of the Renault 5 to 26,290 euros

Renault is raising the prices of the electric R5 in Germany for the new model year: all trims will be cheaper by 1,710 euros. The new base price is thus 26,290 euros instead of 28,000 euros. Even with the large 52-kWh battery, the Renault 5 will now cost less than 30,000 euros.

The Renault 5 E-Tech was the most successful electric compact car in Germany in the first half of the year, with around 4,500 new registrations — despite its fairly high price. The design is certainly a strength of this model: as is well known, the French developed this electric compact car as an homage to the original R5, giving it a playful appearance with vibrant colors.

For the new model year, Renault has announced that it will reduce the prices of the electric Renault 5 across all trims by 1,710 euros, bringing the new starting price to 26,290 euros for the R5 Evolution 120 Urban Range (equipped with a 90 kW electric motor and a smaller 40-kWh battery). The cheapest version with the larger 52-kWh battery will now cost starting at 29,290 euros. The new prices are summarized in the table below:

Renault also states that it is not aiming to cut costs on features but rather to “offer even more.” This claim is hard to fully verify at present. What is clear is that starting with the middle trim level, Techno, a new ventilated inductive smartphone charger is included. Also available from the Techno level onward is a feature that automatically switches between different driving modes (Eco, Comfort, and Sport) depending on the driving style. In the top trim levels, Iconic Five and Roland Garros, previously optional safety features are now standard, including the blind spot warning, exit assist, cross-traffic alert, and Active Driver Assist with emergency stop assistance.

For the fourth quarter, Renault also announces further options to personalize the vehicle: The color palette will be expanded with the new paint finishes DeZir-Red and Dolomite-Grey, while the wheel lineup will include new 18-inch alloy wheels in gold tone. Additionally, four new roof and door decals (“in the style of Hyper5 or Vibrant5”) are available in black, red, or gold. The following gallery gives an overview of the new colors and roof designs:
