Renault Scenic refreshed. Range of up to 640 kilometers, faster charging, and a new cheaper battery

Renault Scenic with technical changes

The Renault Scenic E-Tech electric hasn’t received a traditional facelift with a new front end or heavily redesigned interior. Renault focused on changes that are more important for electric vehicle use: batteries, charging speed, and electronics.

The most significant change is the new Long Range version. The existing 87 kWh battery is replaced by an NMC 89 kWh battery. The range increases to 642 km WLTP, and charging from 15% to 80% now takes 28 minutes. The maximum DC charging power remains at 150 kW. Renault claims that the fast charging time has been reduced by 25%. The engine still produces 220 horsepower.

The cheaper Scenic will get an LFP battery

A second version of the battery is also available. In autumn 2026, the Scenic with a 67 kWh LFP battery will be added to the lineup. Its range will reach up to 467 km WLTP. Interestingly, despite the smaller battery, the car will be able to charge at a higher maximum power of 165 kW. Charging from 15% to 80% should take 24 minutes.

Renault uses a cell-to-pack design here, where cells go directly into the pack without traditional module separation. The battery consists of 232 pouch-type cells, and the manufacturer reports a space utilization rate of 53%. A similar solution was used in the upgraded Megane E-Tech electric earlier on.

From a market perspective, the LFP version is significant because it can significantly lower the entry price. In France, it will cost starting at 31,750 euros, which is approximately 137,000 zł at the current exchange rate. However, caution should be exercised with such comparisons, as the French price includes a local subsidy scheme, whose maximum value in Renault’s calculations amounts to 8,240 euros. The 89 kWh version costs there starting at 38,750 euros, or about 167,000 zł under the same criteria.

In Poland, the old pricing remains for now

On the Polish Renault website, the upgraded Scenic has not yet appeared in the configurator. The currently available Long Range version costs from 209,900 zł, has an 87 kWh battery, 218 HP, and a claimed WLTP range of 622 km. The Esprit Alpine costs from 219,900 zł, while the Iconic starts at 229,900 zł. We are waiting to see how the 89 kWh version will be priced and whether the cheaper LFP variant will truly lower the entry price significantly.

Gemini arrives in the car

The changes don’t stop at the battery. The openR link system with Google services gets Gemini, an AI-powered assistant. Drivers will be able to give more natural and complex voice commands instead of relying solely on Google Assistant.

Renault also includes 2 GB of data transfer per month for three years along with a Qi2 wireless charger. Google Maps allows for more precise filtering of chargers based on factors such as provider, power output, and payment method.

The assistance systems have also been upgraded.

The car can simultaneously monitor several vehicles ahead of it, and Emergency Stop Assist will stop the vehicle if the driver stops responding. The camera monitoring the driver is used not only to detect fatigue and distraction but also to recognize the user and load their settings. The Scenic remains a relatively compact family car. It is 4.47 meters long and weighs less than 1900 kg.

Renault with a wide range of electric vehicles

The Scenic is currently the largest among Renault’s standard electric passenger cars, but the brand’s lineup has expanded rapidly.

The Renault 5 costs 121,500 zł in Poland, while the larger Renault 4 is priced at 130,500 zł. The Megane E-Tech electric starts at 179,900 zł, and the Scenic is currently priced at 209,900 zł. The electric lineup also includes the passenger cars Kangoo and Grand Kangoo, with a new Twingo E-Tech electric available with a range of up to 263 km. Renault also showcases the niche sports model 5 Turbo 3E. Thus, the French brand offers electric vehicles ranging from small urban cars to the family-oriented Scenic, not including their commercial vehicle lineup.

Competitors are not standing still

The problem for the Scenic is that in this market segment, the choice today is exceptionally large. The Ford Explorer offers up to 602 km of WLTP range and starts at 166,490 zł. The Škoda Enyaq costs from 189,900 zł, while the Volkswagen ID.4 is currently available at a special price of 127,990 zł and can achieve up to 569 km of range.

In addition, there’s the Hyundai Ioniq 5 with a range of up to 570 km and a price starting at 148,900 zł, as well as the Peugeot E-3008, whose Long Range version can reach up to 698 km of WLTP range.

In this context, increasing the Scenic’s range from 622 to 642 km alone doesn’t change the power dynamics. The new 67 kWh version might be more significant. If it also allows for a substantial price reduction in Poland, Renault will be able to compete not only with the highest-end model’s long range but also with a much more affordable option for customers who don’t need such a large battery.
