Roland Garros, the top version
The retro-futuristic style of this new iteration of the iconic “five-seater” is already, in its base version, a truly stunning vehicle. There has been a lot of buzz around this launch, especially since it ranked in the top five registered electric vehicles in Poland’s “B” segment in the first half of this year. What does the top-tier Roland Garros version offer?
Fluff inside the “five-seater”? Absolutely
The differences, though subtle, relate to the finishing touches. The doors feature decorative elements with crosshatch patterns inspired by the architecture of Roland Garros courts, along with the well-known logo of this prestigious tournament.
The car’s interior pays homage to Roland Garros through its color and material details. It features accessories in brick dust-colored tones and upholstery made from recycled gray fabric, adorned with a graphic pattern and Refined material. The upper part of the dashboard is finished with a lit, gray matte strip bearing the logo of the French tournament.
The Renault 5 E-tech Roland Garros is available in four body colors: White Pearl, Blue Nocturne, Black Etoile, and the gray Schiste Satin version we tested. Subjective opinion: in gray paint, the ‘5’ looks absolutely fantastic!
In addition, the Roland Garros edition features all of the Renault 5’s equipment: an illuminated energy level indicator on the dashboard styled like the number 5, an electric platform ensuring a range of up to 410 km, a two-way charger, dual openR screens measuring 2×10 inches with integrated Google services, and Reno – the brand’s official digital avatar.
Is the Roland Garros version worth its price?
It’s very easy these days to overcomplicate things. Yet Renault has shown that it’s possible to honor the spirit of the world’s most famous tennis tournament in the form of a nimble, urban “electric car.” Despite its tennis-inspired flair, the vehicle still drives just as well as a traditional sports car — precisely, relatively softly, and comfortably, whether in the city or on the road.
The base price of the Renault 5 E-tech starts at 121,500 zł. The Roland Garros version we tested, with optional satin paint and a multimedia system featuring built-in Google services along with Harman Kardon audio, was priced at 165,000 zł. Is that much for a typical urban car with a 52 kWh battery? You’ll have to decide for yourselves, as I’m in a hurry for my tennis lesson. Au revoir!
