Renault has updated the Megane E-Tech electric model for the new model year. The most significant change relates to the battery: the compact car now features a 67-kWh battery with LFP cell technology, which, according to the manufacturer, enables a WLTP range of up to 494 kilometers. Additionally, fast charging times are expected to be reduced. Meanwhile, Renault has significantly streamlined its offerings—there is now only one battery option, one powertrain, and two trim levels. Prices start at 34,990 euros.

The Megane E-Tech electric was launched in 2022 and was then the first model in Renault’s new generation of electric vehicles. With this latest update, the manufacturer highlights four key improvements: a sharper design, an enhanced electric powertrain, new features in terms of comfort and connectivity, as well as a simplified model structure.

Powertrain, Battery, and Range

All versions use the same powertrain: an electric motor with 160 kW (218 HP) and a maximum torque of 300 Nm. The energy comes from the new 67-kWh LFP battery, which is standard in all variants. Renault reports a combined power consumption of 16.5 kWh/100 km.

The WLTP range is up to 494 kilometers. Renault emphasizes that the new battery has no impact on driving performance. The suspension, steering, and handling are designed to maintain the Megane’s existing character. Standard features also include a heat pump and battery preconditioning, which are particularly useful in low temperatures and before rapid charging stops.

Charging Power and Times

For fast charging, Renault promises a significant improvement: the process of charging from 15 to 80 percent is said to take around 24 minutes. According to the manufacturer, this represents a 25 percent reduction compared to the previous model. Renault does not specify a maximum DC charging power in the announcement.

For AC charging, a bidirectional 11-kW charger is standard. Optionally, a bidirectional 22-kW AC charger is available.

Trim Levels Techno and Esprit Alpine

The model lineup will now consist of the two trims, Techno and Esprit Alpine. Even the base Techno version includes the OpenR link multimedia system with a 12-inch screen and integrated Google services, an EV route planner, a digital rearview camera, a heated steering wheel, and 19-inch wheels. Standard features also include regenerative braking via switches on the steering wheel and a one-pedal function. The dashboard is covered in synthetic leather, and the trunk volume is 440 liters.

For an additional fee, the Techno can be equipped with electrically adjustable seats in light gray or titanium black leather, seat heating, a Harman Kardon sound system, 20-inch alloy wheels, a 22-kW AC charger, and a driver assistance package with augmented-vision functions.

The top-tier Esprit Alpine model is distinguished visually by its own 20-inch alloy wheels and specific design elements. Standard features include electrically adjustable massage seats, a Harman-Kardon sound system, and an expanded suite of assistance systems such as Active Driver Assist with emergency stop assistant, a 360-degree camera, and an automatic parking assistant. A total of seven body colors are available, with the new color option being “Satinated Slate Blue.”

Connectivity and Infotainment

The OpenR-link system provides Google Maps with route planning for electric vehicles, as well as access to over 100 apps from the Google Play Store. A new feature is an air-cooled wireless charging slot for smartphones based on the Qi2 standard. The vehicle can also be controlled remotely using the my-rnlt app.

The purchase includes an internet connection valid for three years. According to Renault, this data volume is sufficient for up to 40 hours of audio streaming or up to three hours of video streaming per month. The AI assistant Google Gemini is set to replace the current Google Assistant via a future update. Using this feature requires a Google account registered in the vehicle.

Prices

The Megane E-Tech Electric Techno 220 Comfort Range costs 34,990 euros. Renault charges 37,990 euros for the Esprit Alpine 220 Comfort Range version. Both versions are equipped with a 160-kW powertrain and a 67-kWh battery.
