Marche region: 8 million for solar-powered charging stations

The Marche region has issued a call for proposals worth 8 million to establish energy-independent charging stations. These sites, intended to power vehicles of public interest such as school buses, must not only provide 50 kW of charging capacity but also be powered by an installation of at least 70 kW and equipped with batteries having a capacity of no less than 50 kWh.
Charging for school buses, medical vehicles, network maintenance, and waste collection
The grant, thanks to European Fesr funds, finances charging stations with at least 50 kW capacity for vehicles used in public service. These include school buses, medical service vehicles, vehicles for maintaining gas, water, and electricity distribution networks, waste collection and urban sanitation vehicles, as well as service vehicles for local authorities. It represents a regional effort to promote the decarbonization of public fleets.

The charging stations must be installed in publicly owned parking lots or those fully under the authority’s control, and powered primarily by a renewable energy generation system such as solar panels on canopies or rooftops. A storage system with a capacity of at least 50 kWh is also required. The renewable energy produced by the system, remaining after individual consumption, can be used for public distributed self-consumption setups. In other words, it can be utilized, for example, to meet the needs of a school or healthcare facility.

Incentive of up to 600,000 euros
The call is open to fleets and vehicles from the Marche region, as well as to individual and/or associated public entities, local health services (AST), in-house companies of individual and/or associated public entities, and publicly owned companies. The latter must be majority-owned or under public control.

8 million are available, while the maximum grant amount is set at 75% of the eligible expenses, up to a maximum of 600,000 euros. Applications can be submitted in person from October 26, 2026, to February 26, 2027, subject to the office closing early if funds are exhausted. It is advisable to submit the project immediately.
