A camouflaged prototype of the upcoming Range Rover GT, which is approximately five meters long, was spotted during test drives near the Nürburgring. Video footage on YouTube shows the vehicle, providing further insight into this electric car following its official announcement by JLR (Jaguar Land Rover) in July.
The GT represents a clear break from the brand’s previous SUV and off-road vehicle model architecture. Land Rover describes it as the fifth member of its Range Rover series family, positioning it as a grand tourer with a relatively low silhouette and coupe proportions. Despite extensive camouflage, this departure from the traditional, tall Range Rover models is evident in the spy photos and official images. The manufacturer promises that despite a greater focus on long-distance comfort, it will still retain the brand’s typical off-road capability.
The Range Rover GT will be the first fully electric Land Rover model based on the EMA (Electrified Modular Architecture) and is set to be produced in Halewood, UK. Only a battery-electric version will be available at launch. The architecture is intended to support a hybrid option later in its lifecycle. Land Rover has not yet released any details regarding battery size, engine power, range, or charging speed for the GT.
Inside, Land Rover is focusing on a more digital design approach. A central screen, a separate driver display, and an air vent integrated across the width of the cockpit are confirmed features. According to Land Rover, speakers will also be partially hidden behind textile surfaces. Further technical details are expected to be announced in 2026.
Before the new GT, the first electric vehicles from the Range Rover sub-brand are expected to be corresponding versions of the luxury SUV Range Rover and its lower-tier model, Range Rover Sport. The more compact Range Rover Velar and Evoque are also likely to receive electric versions.
