Three 400 kW Siemens chargers were put into operation near the former FSO gate in Warsaw. Unfortunately, the price is disappointing.

Three fast chargers from Siemens, the SICHARGE D400, are available in front of the main entrance of the former passenger car factory at Jagiellońska 88 in Warsaw’s Żeranie district. Each charger has a capacity of up to 400 kW and two CCS2 connectors, allowing six cars to be charged simultaneously. The charging station was installed by developer OKAM as part of the F.S.O. PARK project, with Elocity handling driver services.

1.2 MW for six stations, but with power allocation

On paper, the location has a total capacity of 1.2 MW. Each charger dynamically divides its 400 kW between two stations. When one car is connected, it can receive the full power. When two cars are at the pillar, the power is distributed based on how much power each car is drawing at that moment. Siemens specifies a maximum current of 500 A per connector, with the actual power depending on the car. The full 400 kW requires a car with a high-voltage architecture (800 V). In a car with a 400 V system, the same 500 A results in approximately 200 kW.

All stations are publicly accessible, meaning not only residents but also employees of F.S.O. PARK can use them.

Price? 2.89 PLN/kWh

This time, the pricing is already known. Charging costs 2.89 PLN/kWh, which, at a maximum power of 400 kW, results in a fairly high bill if someone plans to charge for an extended period. It’s worth keeping in mind, however, that the actual charging power depends on the vehicle, battery level, and charging conditions. The station can be found and activated through the Elocity app. You might also want to use our WattRate.eu app to check if there are any cheaper options in the area...

For comparison: in the October price comparison, the average cost for DC chargers was 2.65 PLN/kWh. Thus, the Żerańska location is 24 groszy more expensive than this average per kilowatt-hour.

Chargers to kick off a multi-year project

F.S.O. PARK is the revitalization of 62 hectares of an old factory, where apartments, offices, schools, services, and recreational areas are set to be built. Chargers are one of the first elements to be installed before the district is even completed. Anna Watkowska, project leader for F.S.O. PARK and vice president for development at OKAM, says, “With such a large project that will take many years to complete, we want the results of our efforts to be visible and accessible much earlier.”

It’s hard to deny the symbolism of this location. For decades, Polonez buses and trains departed from here, and now electric vehicles are being charged under the same gate.

From the editorial team: six units of 400 kW each are equipment typical of charging hubs along highways, and this one is located on Jagiellońska, just a few minutes from the Grota-Roweckiego Bridge and the S8 highway. With a price of 2.89 zł/kWh, it isn’t the cheapest charging spot, but given its power and location, it could be a convenient stop for drivers in the northeast part of Warsaw.
