First images of the new BYD Han, the model that introduced the famous Blade batteries, fully refreshed

The Han is a model of great importance to BYD. This executive sedan was the first to feature the first-generation Blade batteries in 2020, a technology on which the company has built its success not only in the Chinese market but also internationally. The current popularity of LFP (lithium-iron-phosphate) batteries cannot be explained without BYD’s contributions, which have made it the world’s second-largest battery producer after CATL.

Although the Han family has expanded in recent years with additions like the Han L and Great Han, the company is already working on a new standard Han model. A camouflaged unit of the third-generation sedan has been spotted in China, and despite the camouflage on its body, several notable changes compared to its predecessor can be seen.

While it retains the Dragon Face design language typical of the Dynasty subseries, the front end appears more stylized, with slanted and elongated headlights. At the rear, the knot-shaped taillights stand out as another hallmark of BYD. A LiDAR is located on the roof, indicating that it will feature advanced autonomous driving capabilities.

The interior will also be typical of BYD, featuring a very minimalist design. The dashboard is dominated by a large horizontal touchscreen for the infotainment system, supplemented by digital instruments behind the steering wheel. The raised central console includes a wireless charger for smartphones capable of charging two devices simultaneously.

The new Han will feature BYD’s latest technological advancements

It is expected that, like its predecessor, the new BYD Han will be available in plug-in hybrid and all-electric versions. It is assumed it will come equipped with the new second-generation Blade batteries, which not only offer higher energy density than previous models but also have seen significant improvements in charging capabilities.

The updated Han is likely compatible with the ultra-fast Flash Charging 2.0 system, which allows it to go from 10% to 70% in 5 minutes and from 10% to 97% in 9 minutes. Additionally, at an ambient temperature of -30 °C, vehicles equipped with this technology can charge from 20% to 97% in 12 minutes, another impressive figure.

Naturally, it will feature the intelligent suspension from the DiSus family. Chinese media estimate its starting price to be around 200,000 yuan (26,164 euros at the current exchange rate), though it is likely to be more expensive when it reaches Europe, falling somewhere between the mid-size sedan Seal and the Denza Z9GT, the group’s premium brand’s flagship model.
