Dongfeng’s first plug-in hybrid is in Porto

With 279 horsepower and an electric range of up to 86 km, the MAGE is Dongfeng’s first plug-in hybrid and is on display at the SAHE in Porto.
It hasn’t been long since Dongfeng entered the domestic market. It arrived in Portugal just over a year ago with the Box, but the manufacturer is committed to expanding its range into higher-volume segments.
For this reason, Dongfeng has expanded its lineup with the VIGO, an electric B-SUV, and the MAGE, the brand’s offering for the C-SUV segment.
This last model, unlike the other two, is not 100% electric. It is Dongfeng’s first plug-in hybrid in Portugal and is on display at the Hybrid and Electric Automobile Show (SAHE) in Alfândega do Porto.

Up to 86 km of electric range
Thanks to a battery with a capacity of 17 kWh, the new Dongfeng MAGE can travel up to 86 kilometers (WLTP) in “zero emissions” mode without using a single drop of fuel. If driven exclusively in urban areas, the brand claims the electric range drops to 136 kilometers between charges, for a total range of up to 1100 km.
When the battery is depleted, the MAGE relies on a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine, which can function as an electric power generator or, when necessary, drive the wheels. Combined with the electric motor, it delivers a maximum combined power of 205 kW (279 hp) and 580 Nm of torque.

The combined fuel consumption announced is 2.2 l/100 km in the WLTP cycle, or 4.8 l/100 km when the battery is depleted. Charging from 30% to 80% takes about 31 minutes, according to the published data.
How much does it cost?
The Dongfeng MAGE is already available for ordering at 28,490 euros (plus VAT), which is approximately 35,000 euros including VAT. The brand also offers a 7-year warranty (or 300,000 kilometers) and a 10-year battery warranty with no mileage limit. At SAHE, the model on display is available for 35,914 euros.
