Audi A2 prices start at 38,350 euros: the German brand reveals more details about its upcoming ‘small’ electric car starting in January.

Audi A2 Prices: Over 40,000 euros for the 499 km range model

The first version to arrive will be the one with a 61 kWh battery, offering a range of nearly 500 km (499 km as certified). The price has not been announced yet, but it will likely exceed 40,000 euros, as the current model with a 52 kWh battery is priced at 38,350 euros. There will also be a more powerful version with a range of up to 646 km, equipped with an 84 kWh battery. It will come in two powertrains, one of which delivers 326 horsepower. The prices for this version are also unknown at present. As for charging speed, DC fast charging ranges from 105 kW for the first version to 183 kW for the most expensive model. AC charging has a maximum rate of 11 kW. Fuel consumption remains low thanks to an excellent aerodynamic drag coefficient (CX 0.24).

Rear-wheel drive, range up to 646 km

All versions of the Audi A2 are rear-wheel drive, equipped with a permanent magnet synchronous motor (PSM) at the rear. Audi states that “the high efficiency of the powertrain is thanks to advanced semiconductor-based power electronics instead of more common silicon components, resulting in reduced losses under partial load conditions by up to -33%. The transmission system also plays a key role: the newly developed low-viscosity lubricant minimizes friction losses, which helps improve overall range, especially in cold temperatures. Additional factors contributing to improved range include four levels of regenerative braking and the one pedal feeling mode.”

High charging curve even beyond 80%

At 4.32 meters long, the A2 boasts impressive acceleration. Torque ranges from 350 Nm in the 125 kW version to 545 Nm in the 240 kW version. Thanks to its flat torque curve, Audi ensures high charging rates even as the battery’s state of charge decreases, reducing charging times for those who want a fully charged battery quickly. Sport and adjustable suspension settings are available on the 170 kW variant, while the top-of-the-line 240 kW model comes standard with variable-rate shock absorbers. A sporty setup is also available for the 140 kW variant. Finally, the A2 240 kW comes standard with a variable-assist and variable-ratio power steering system.
