After FAW-Volkswagen launched pre-orders for the new electric sedan Jetta M6 at the end of September 2026, it is now bringing this electric vehicle to the Chinese market. At launch, the manufacturer has slightly lowered its original starting price from the pre-order period.

The M6 is available in three trim levels on the Chinese market. The base model, 465 Pro, now starts at 79,800 yuan (about 10,700 euros), which is 1,000 yuan (about 134 euros) lower than the pre-sale price listed in September. The mid-tier and higher-end trims, 555 Max and 555 Ultra, are priced at 89,800 yuan (about 12,000 euros) and 99,800 yuan (about 13,350 euros), respectively. According to CNEVPost, Jetta offers customer packages worth 26,000 yuan (about 3,475 euros) at launch, including benefits such as warranty, trade-in discounts, and data allowances.

E-Limousine with Two Powertrain Options

The M6, measuring 4.81 meters in length, 1.87 meters in width, and 1.50 meters in height, is based on Jetta’s Jiesi electric architecture. It features a wheelbase of 2.8 meters and a curb weight ranging from 1,557 kg to 1,628 kg. The limousine uses front-wheel drive.

The base model 465 Pro delivers 113 kW of power, accelerates to 100 km/h in 8.3 seconds, and reaches a top speed of 166 km/h. A 42.9-kWh battery provides a range of 465 km according to the Chinese CLTC standard.

The 555 Max and 555 Ultra variants feature a 145-kW engine that reduces the 0-100 km/h acceleration time to 6.8 seconds and increases the top speed to 172 km/h. The 51.9 kWh battery in these models enables a CLTC range of up to 555 km.

The lithium iron phosphate cells (LFP) are supplied by the Chinese manufacturer CALB, while the actual battery assembly takes place directly at the FAW-Volkswagen plant in Chengdu (southwest China). According to the manufacturer, charging from 30% to 80% at fast chargers takes 25 minutes. Standard features also include a heat pump and a 3.5-kW Vehicle-to-Load function (V2L) for powering external devices.

Lie-flat function for longer breaks

Inside, the Jetta M6 features a simple, switch-free layout. Alongside an 8.88-inch digital instrument cluster behind the steering wheel, a central 15.6-inch touchscreen with 2.5K resolution takes center stage. The infotainment system integrates Chinese language AI and offers smartphone connectivity.

A notable feature is the seating options: the front seats can be fully folded flat backward, creating a flat sleeping surface when combined with the rear seat. This so-called twin-bed configuration is typically found in larger SUVs for outdoor activities and is designed to make breaks during charging more comfortable in the M6.

While all models come equipped with basic features such as emergency braking assist, cruise control, and automatic parking, the top-tier 555 Ultra model offers a camera-based system powered by Horizon Robotics’ Journey 6M chip. This enables the vehicle to handle city and highway NOA (Navigation on Autopilot), memory parking, and an automatic reverse assist function. For first owners of these NOA variants, Jetta also covers insurance costs in the event of accidents caused by the assistance systems during private use for the first year.
