Porsche is introducing a new generation of the Porsche Communication Management (PCM) for the 911, Panamera, and Cayenne models, as well as for the electric vehicle Taycan. The new hardware platform is based on a system-on-chip architecture and is said to offer up to five times higher computing power than the previous generation. This is intended to reduce system startup times and loading durations, speed up operation, and improve the ability to use multiple applications simultaneously.
Extensive over-the-air updates also allow for the updating of software and selected functions after the vehicle is delivered. Through Porsche Digital Interaction, the manufacturer brings the design and user interface language introduced in the Cayenne Electric to other model lines. This includes a unified UX/UI design, individually configurable widgets, and five selectable themes. A freely rotatable 3D vehicle model in the respective exterior color enables direct access to selected vehicle functions and settings.
The upgraded Navigation Plus features a new 3D map display, online map data, and real-time traffic information. In fully electric models, the Porsche Charging Planner takes battery preconditioning into account when planning charging stops. The AI-powered Voice Pilot is based on a large language model, processes natural language and multi-step requests, and enables voice control of navigation, media, selected vehicle functions, and apps.
Porsche combines its own digital services with smartphone applications and third-party apps through what it calls the Blended Ecosystem. The Porsche App Center allows users to download and update apps, including Apple Music for the first time with Dolby Atmos support integrated with Bose and Burmester’s 3D surround sound systems. In selected markets, smartphone integration also includes a map display on the instrument cluster and electric vehicle routing with battery preconditioning.
The new infotainment generation will be gradually introduced in newly produced vehicles from the 911, Taycan, Panamera, and Cayenne series. Availability may vary depending on market, model, production time, and equipment options.
