Porsche apparently plans to discontinue the Taycan by 2030.

The Porsche Taycan went into mass production in 2019. However, after initially strong demand, sales figures have now declined significantly. As an economic newspaper reports, the electric sports car will be phased out by 2030 at the latest. A potential move of production from Stuttgart to Leipzig is said to be off the table.
Porsche plans to discontinue the Taycan electric model within four years, according to reports in the WirtschaftsWoche. The magazine cites information from insiders for this claim. Per the report, although top management also discussed moving the Taycan production to Leipzig — as we reported at the end of 2024 — they also considered an early phase-out of this electric vehicle. Ultimately, Porsche has apparently decided to end production of the model by 2030, after ten years on the market. At least that is the case if the Taycan is indeed still being produced by 2029 or 2030.
According to the WirtschaftsWoche, the background is that production of the Taycan at the main plant in Stuttgart is severely underutilized due to weak demand: sales of the model have dropped by two-thirds compared to 2023, according to the report. From just under 41,000 units in 2023, sales have fallen to around 16,000 units. And this negative trend continues: in the first half of 2026, the Taycan recorded only slightly over 6,000 sales. “Production has been halted several times in recent months due to weak demand,” writes the WirtschaftsWoche. However, moving away from Stuttgart is no longer under consideration. An agreement regarding the phase-out of the model by 2030 is also planned with the works council, though it has not yet been put in writing.
Porsche itself has not issued any official confirmation. However, in an interview with the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung at the end of July, Porsche CEO Michael Leiters stated that there are no plans to bring an early end to the Taycan production, and management wants to wait and see how demand develops. One reason for this is likely that Porsche has further refined the Taycan for the 2027 model year. Additionally, the model will optionally come equipped with a new “virtual transmission” for the upcoming model year, which simulates gear shifts with noticeable shift pulses. The additional cost is around 1,000 euros.
According to the manufacturer, there will be no changes to the model lineup or prices in the new model year. The Taycan will still be available as a coupe-limousine, Sport, or Cross Turismo in a total of 18 variants, with power outputs ranging from 300 to 760 kW. The prices range from 102,600 to 241,100 euros.
