Chery is preparing a major update for one of the most eye-catching models in its new iCaur brand. The V27 will debut in China with a Long-Range version on September 30, featuring improvements focused primarily on range, interior comfort, and technology. The company has not yet revealed the price or final specifications for this new variant.
This update comes at a sensitive time. Deliveries of the V27 have declined for four consecutive months after reaching 4,184 units in April. They dropped to 3,456 in May, 2,219 in June, 1,764 in July, and only 1,609 units in August. The new Long-Range version aims to revitalize demand for a model that will be sold under the iCaur brand outside of China.

A massive EREV SUV with up to 449 horsepower
The V27 is a clearly off-road designed SUV that measures 4,909 mm in length, a figure that increases to 5,055 mm when equipped with an external spare tire. It has a width of 1,976 mm, a height of up to 1,894 mm, and a wheelbase of 2,910 mm. It also features a 24-degree approach angle, a 23-degree departure angle, and the ability to drive through water up to 600 mm deep.
Its extended range system combines a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine, primarily used to generate electricity, with electric propulsion. The rear-wheel drive version delivers 248 horsepower, while the dual-motor all-wheel drive variants reach 449 horsepower. All models currently use a 34.3 kWh LFP battery. The most efficient model can travel 210 km on electric power according to the CLTC cycle, around 150 km under WLTC, with a combined range of up to 1,230 km.
Technology also plays an important role. The multimedia system uses a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295P processor and supports Apple CarPlay, Huawei HiCar, and CarLink. The higher-end Falcon 700 model adds LiDAR along with a Horizon Robotics Journey 6P processor featuring 560 TOPS of computing power for its advanced driving assistance functions. The current price of the V27 in China ranges from 169,800 to 196,800 yuan, which is approximately equivalent to 22,095 to 25,605 euros at current exchange rates.

The V27 will also be one of Chery’s weapons in Europe
The future of the V27 is not limited to the Chinese market. Chery created iCaur as a new brand focused on rugged-looking, electrified vehicles and has already confirmed plans to introduce it in Europe. The V27 will be one of its key products, combining its off-road aesthetic with an EREV system designed to provide long driving ranges without relying entirely on charging infrastructure.
Chery itself unveiled the V27 in Italy this summer and confirmed that iCaur will begin its commercial operations there during the first quarter of 2027. Spain is also among the markets targeted for its European expansion. The company had previously announced that its new brand would arrive in our country around 2027, with a strategy aimed at combining vehicles featuring classic aesthetics and off-road capabilities with modern electrified technology.
Before strengthening its presence in Europe, Chery will continue to expand exports of the V27 to the Middle East, Central Asia, and Eastern Europe. The new Long-Range version, which will be unveiled on September 30, could also become a particularly attractive option for those markets. Chery now needs to prove that the V27 can achieve the growth it is missing in its domestic market by tapping into overseas markets.
