Peugeot and Jeep will receive ADAS Momenta starting in 2027. These vehicles will also be available in Europe.
Momenta and Dongfeng Stellantis Automotive Technology signed an agreement on September 24, 2026, in Shanghai regarding driver assistance systems for new Peugeot and Jeep models. The first electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles equipped with Chinese software are set to go into production in Wuhan in 2027, with Europe also on the list of target markets. In effect, Stellantis is opening doors for another Chinese company to access its global brands.
Four new models and unified vehicle tuning
Dongfeng Stellantis Automotive Technology, also known as DSAT or DPCA Technology, was established by Dongfeng Motor, Stellantis, and other partners. The initial product plan includes four electrified models, two from Peugeot and two from Jeep. The lineup will feature electric vehicles as well as PHEVs.
Production will begin at the Dongfeng Peugeot Citroën Automobile plant in Wuhan. The vehicles will later be sold through Stellantis’ global network, including in Europe. There is no list of countries, dates for the launch of individual models, or information on whether all four versions will undergo European homologation.
Momenta will not just supply a ready-made ADAS module. The company is expected to participate in product definition and research and development efforts, with the entire system being integrated with the electronic architecture, steering system, brakes, and drive train.
Peugeot will maintain a focus on road driving. Jeep is set to receive calibration tailored for off-road use and surfaces with lower traction. This represents a more ambitious scope than simply adding an adaptive cruise control system and lane-keeping feature at the end of the project.
R7 is already used in production vehicles
The foundation of the system will be Momenta’s R7 world model. This solution entered mass production in April 2026 and was installed in vehicles such as the Dongfeng Nissan N7, Roewe iMAX8 07, and MG 07.
The world model is designed to analyze the vehicle’s surroundings and predict the behavior of other road users. Momenta aims to use a common technical platform across production vehicles, autonomous vans, and robotaxis. Data collected from driving in Europe will later assist in further system updates.
The scale of deployments is no longer limited to laboratory settings. In the first half of 2026, Momenta’s solutions were installed in approximately 321,000 additional vehicles, an 83.7 percent increase from the previous year. By the end of June, the total number of installations exceeded one million, covering 105 different models. The company currently collaborates with 26 manufacturers, and vehicles equipped with its technology have reached 10 countries and regions.
For Stellantis, this means access to software developed on a vast number of Chinese roads. For Momenta, Peugeot and Jeep, it is a pass to the European market, where the system must handle different traffic signs, traffic organization, weather conditions, and homologation requirements.
After ADAS comes Level 3 automation
The agreement also covers the development of Level 3 autonomous driving functions. Such a system can take over steering under certain conditions, but it must be approved for specific roads, speeds, and scenarios. The driver still needs to remain ready to take control at the car’s request.
The announcement of this collaboration does not mean that Peugeot or Jeep will offer L3 in Europe by 2027. First, mass-produced assistance systems will appear, while more advanced automation will require separate implementation and regulatory approval. Momenta is preparing for the expected acceleration of the global ADAS market in 2028.
Chinese software in European brands is no longer a last-minute add-on, as Momenta will even control braking and drive response. Would you accept a Peugeot or Jeep whose most important assisted driving functions were developed by a Chinese company?
