Here is the new Nissan Twingo Pixo. Battery capacity ~28.5 (27.5) kWh, 259 WLTP range units

Nissan has unveiled its concept for a Renault Twingo rival. The new electric vehicle is called the Nissan Pixo; it shares the same silhouette as the Renault Twingo, but its boldly designed headlights and tail lights give it a distinctly different appearance. However, when it comes to the powertrain, it features exactly the same engine as the Twingo, a close relative of the new Dacia Spring—a model developed thanks to Renault’s engineering center in Shanghai, China.

Nissan Pixo: Prices in December, availability in Poland uncertain

The Nissan Pixo is an A-segment car, measuring 3.796 meters in length with a wheelbase of 2.492 meters (along with a height of 1.512 meters and a width of 1.79 meters without mirrors). There are only four seats in the cabin, but space behind the rear seat allows for up to 356 liters of cargo volume—according to VDA standards, measured from the end of the rear seat backrest or the bottom edge of the windows. With the seats folded down, this increases to over 1,200 liters.

The powertrain is distinctly urban-oriented: the battery, built using lithium-iron-phosphate cells with a capacity of ~28.5 (27.5) kWh, allows up to 259 WLTP units per charge, which is roughly 221 kilometers in urban or suburban conditions. LFP cells require thorough warming in winter, and since the Pixo is a budget model, it’s wise to test it on cold days before purchasing. It’s possible the manufacturer may recommend starting the vehicle from a charger, which isn’t always feasible in apartment buildings [editorial speculation by Elektrowozu].

The standard equipment will include a CCS2 fast charging port that allows for charging speeds of up to 50 kW. This suggests that the base Nissan Pixo might be more expensive than the Renault Twingo. Nissan promises a charging time of 28 minutes to reach 15 to 80 percent battery charge. The Pixo is expected to be equipped with an e-Pedal, meaning it should support one-pedal driving, while Google services will handle navigation. It will also offer the ability to feed energy back in at full AC-DC charger power (11 kW).

The engine with 60 kW/82 HP and 175 Nm of torque will power the front wheels. The average turning radius is 9.9 meters (source). Further details, including the prices of the Nissan Pixo, will be revealed in December. The model’s availability in Poland is uncertain due to the Ariya being phased out in our country. Even Renault did not dare bring in the previous generation of the electric Twingo, as it would have been too expensive.
