Orlen Charge has returned to 2.69 zł per kWh DC. GreenWay is significantly cheaper until September 30.

At Orlen Charge, the summer promotion has ended and standard rates have been reinstated: 2.69 PLN/kWh for DC charging and 1.95 PLN/kWh for AC charging. Meanwhile, GreenWay Polska maintains lower rates at selected stations until September 30, usually at 2.09 PLN/kWh, and sometimes even 1.79 PLN/kWh. For EV drivers, the conclusion is clear: they need to check the app again before plugging in their car, as the differences have become significant.

Orlen returns to old rates but with a new note for DC charging

After the end of the summer promotion, Orlen Charge reverted to the prices that drivers are already familiar with. DC charging costs 2.69 PLN/kWh, while AC charging costs 1.95 PLN/kWh.

What’s more interesting than the price increase itself is the note on the operator’s website. The rate of 2.69 PLN/kWh applies to DC charging with a power output of up to 600 kW. This doesn’t seem like a coincidence.

A few days ago, on Friday, August 28, Orlen launched the first two publicly accessible MCS charging stations for trucks and buses in Poland. They are located at MOP Stobiecko Szlacheckie Zachód and Stobiecko Szlacheckie Wschód. Such devices can theoretically reach up to 1,500 kW, so a separate, higher pricing structure for kilowatt-hour charging seems highly likely. For now, it’s just a suggestion in the fee table, but it’s quite clear.

GreenWay is still offering promotions, though not everywhere.

Compared to Orlen, GreenWay Polska is performing better today. The provider maintains reduced prices at selected stations until September 30. The usual rate is 2.09 zł/kWh, regardless of whether someone has a subscription or is charging ad hoc. At some locations, the price drops to 1.79 zł/kWh.

There is, however, a star rating. Not all locations participate in the promotion, and rates at strategic locations can be higher. In short, 2.09 PLN/kWh is a good rate for the Polish DC market, but it’s still better to check the app before starting a charging session.

GreenWay has also reduced promotional subscription prices to 4.99 PLN or 39.99 PLN. The problem is that purchasing now means you’ll be charged the standard rates starting from the next month, which are 29.99 PLN or 79.99 PLN, since you can cancel the paid plan only after at least one full month. So it’s a promotion within a promotion, but math still matters.

Tesla as before: cheap at night or expensive during the day

Nothing has changed at Tesla’s Superchargers yet, but it remains one of the most complex pricing structures in the market. The cost depends on the time of day and whether someone is driving a Tesla or a car from another brand, as well as whether they have a monthly subscription costing 50 zł.

For cars from other brands without a subscription, especially during peak hours, the cost is usually high. On the other hand, Tesla owners or those with a subscription face more affordable rates, and outside of peak hours it can even be very cheap, sometimes comparable to home charging at the G11 rate.

There’s only one catch: the cheap pricing window usually falls late at night or after midnight. Anyone who has tried to use a Supercharger around 11 p.m. knows that more than one person wants to save money at that time.

Yesterday, the promotions at Budimex and Enefit networks also ended, so after the holidays the market returned to a less favorable level. If someone charges while on the road without planning, the difference between a good and a bad location can once again amount to several dozen zlotys per charging session. And what do you usually avoid these days—Orlen, look for GreenWay, or wait for Tesla’s night charging window?
