Opel offers the Grandland Electric as the brand’s first battery electric vehicle equipped with a 22-kW onboard charger. This charging option is available for the Grandland Electric, Grandland Electric Long Range, and Grandland Electric AWD. At suitable AC charging stations, the charging time is significantly reduced compared to charging at 11 kW, provided the infrastructure supports that power level.
In the front-wheel-drive Grandland Electric and the all-wheel-drive Grandland Electric AWD with a 78-kWh battery and 73 kWh of usable capacity, the charging time drops from around five hours to just over 2.5 hours. The Grandland Electric Long Range, with 96.9 kWh of usable battery capacity, now requires only 3.25 hours instead of 6.5 hours.
“With the 22-kW onboard charger in the Opel Grandland Electric, we emphasize our commitment to making electric mobility even more comfortable and flexible for our customers. As Opel’s first car to offer this charging option, the Grandland combines advanced charging technology with the qualities of a modern all-electric SUV,” says Patrick Dinger, head of Opel Germany.
The Grandland Electric achieves a range of up to 519 kilometers according to WLTP, while the Grandland Electric Long Range reaches up to 691 kilometers. All fully electric Grandland variants come standard with a suspension system featuring Frequency Selective Damping, which adjusts its damping characteristics based on driving conditions, road surface, and driving style. This technology is designed to combine comfortable handling during short-term shocks with a more direct road feel at lower frequencies.
The Grandland Electric AWD delivers a system power of 239 kW (325 hp) and a maximum torque of 509 Newton meters. Four driving modes are available: Normal, Eco, Sport, and 4WD. In 4WD mode, both electric motors operate continuously, distributing power evenly to all four wheels, while in Sport mode, the steering and throttle respond more directly. In both modes, the maximum power and maximum torque are available.
