The revised Astra made its world premiere in January 2026 at the Brussels Motor Show. As early as the preview of new models in Brussels in December 2025, Opel announced the Intelli-Seats with ergonomic contours, which were set to be standard even in the base version. The model manufactured in Rüsselsheim has been on sale since spring. For the new model year, Opel is reorganizing its trim options and adding a “Start” variant below the existing versions, which is now available for ordering. The Astra was last displayed at the Paris Auto Show as well.

The new trim line is available for the five-door model and the Sports Tourer station wagon. For the Astra Start, Opel lists a hybrid, a diesel engine, and an electric drive as options. The prices are given as non-binding recommendations including value-added tax.

Prices: Astra Electric 1,900 Euros cheaper

For the Astra Electric, Opel states an entry price of 36,490 Euros for the base trim. The price reduction compared to the previous entry model is cited as 1,900 Euros. The announcement does not specify whether or at what price the Sports Tourer Electric will be available in its base version.

The cheapest version of the Astra overall is the five-door model with hybrid drive, priced at 31,890 Euros. The Sports Tourer starts at 33,390 Euros. In both cases, Opel claims a savings of 1,500 Euros compared to the previous entry models.

Opel Germany’s head, Patrick Dinger, explains this move by saying the brand aims to make individual mobility options, regardless of propulsion type, accessible to more customers. According to him, this makes the Astra cheaper than many competitors.

Power: 115 kW in the Astra Electric

The Astra Electric Start is powered by an electric motor with 115 kW (156 horsepower) and 270 Newton meters of torque. According to WLTP standards, the combined electricity consumption for the Astra Electric and Astra Sports Tourer Electric ranges from 14.7 to 15.8 kWh per 100 kilometers.

The equipment includes the Vehicle to Load (V2L) function, which allows external devices to be powered by the vehicle’s battery. However, a connector available as an accessory is required for full functionality.

Opel does not provide details on battery capacity, range, or charging speed in the current announcement. When introducing the revised model in December 2025, the manufacturer specified that the Astra Electric would have a 58 kWh battery and a WLTP range of up to 454 kilometers.

The Astra Start with a combustion engine is available in two versions. The hybrid model delivers a system power of 107 kW (145 hp) and 230 Newton meters, with power transmitted via an electricized six-speed dual-clutch transmission. Its WLTP fuel consumption is 4.7 to 5.1 liters per 100 kilometers. The diesel version has 96 kW (130 hp) and is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission, consuming 4.8 to 5.1 liters per 100 kilometers according to WLTP standards.

Equipment of the base version

With the new equipment, Opel also introduces a new color: the Astra Start comes standard with a Denim Blue metallic paint finish. The driver and passenger sit in six-way adjustable Intelli-Sits featuring a recess in the center of the seat surface. Standard features also include an automatic climate control system, front and rear parking sensors, as well as the keyless start system “Keyless Start.” Additional assistance systems are available according to the manufacturer, but they are not listed individually in the announcement.

In the cockpit, Opel combines a customizable 10-inch driver display with a similarly sized touchscreen for the infotainment system.

For an additional fee, the Comfort Package Start can be ordered. It includes features such as heat-reflective glass (Solar Protect), an automatically dimming interior mirror, and a center armrest; the Sports Tourer version also gets a roof rack. Opel does not provide a price for this package.

Base equipment available for other models as well

The Astra is the third model after the Fronttera and Combo for which Opel has introduced a base equipment package. It is planned to be offered gradually for the remaining model lines as well. Meanwhile, Opel states that higher trim levels will receive additional features to make them more distinct from one another.
