OMODA and JAECOO solve a troublesome issue with new cars that affects millions of drivers

Modern cars are increasingly equipped with safety systems, driving assistants, and comfort features. The problem is that this advancement also requires drivers to manage an ever-growing number of settings, and in some cases, repeat certain adjustments each time they get behind the wheel.

OMODA & JAECOO aims to simplify this task with a new feature called “Custom Scenes.” This system allows users to create different profiles to store their preferences, enabling them to restore all settings with just a few taps on the central screen.

The utility extends beyond storing seat positions or specific interior lighting. Among the parameters that can be memorized are various advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), such as lane departure warning, speed limit assist, or rear cross-traffic alert.

A solution for assistants that activate upon startup

This function is particularly important due to the European safety regulation GSR2. Starting in July 2024, all newly registered vehicles must be equipped with various advanced driver assistance systems, and certain assistants must reactivate automatically every time the vehicle is started, regardless of the settings used during the previous journey.

Therefore, the OMODA & JAECOO system does not eliminate that automatic activation nor allow the assistants to be disabled permanently. Instead, it enables the driver to quickly restore the configuration previously saved, reducing the number of interactions needed after each start-up.

This can also be particularly useful when the same car is used by multiple people. Each driver can have a pre-defined configuration that they can restore in just a few seconds when taking the wheel, without having to manually adjust each setting.

It’s not only for ADAS

In addition to driving assistants, depending on the model and its equipment, “Custom Scenes” allows users to save other elements that directly affect the driving experience.

These include the intensity of energy recovery, driving mode, seat position, sunroof settings, and ambient lighting adjustments. This way, a single action can restore most of the user’s usual preferences.

The JAECOO 7 SHS hybrid is the company’s first model to come equipped with this feature as standard. However, one of the highlights of this new model is that it can also be installed in vehicles already on the road through a software update via the official dealership network.

Currently, the update is available for the OMODA 5 gasoline, OMODA 5 SHS hybrid, OMODA 7 SHS plug-in hybrid, OMODA 9 SHS plug-in hybrid, and JAECOO 7 SHS plug-in hybrid. The company also states that it will gradually expand this feature to other models in its lineup.
