The new Kia Seltos with 180 hp comes with a 2,000 euro discount.

For 33,990 euros, the new Kia Seltos combines family space with a non-electrified gasoline engine. This offer is intended for private buyers.

There’s a sort of unwritten rule in today’s automotive market: almost everything is electrified. The Kia Seltos takes a different approach, using a 1.6 Turbo gasoline engine from the Gamma II family without any electric assistance. It delivers 180 horsepower, and this model comes with Kia’s seven-year warranty.

In Portugal, all versions of the Seltos are equipped with this four-cylinder engine, one of the most well-known in the South Korean brand’s lineup. The launch offer sets the Sport version at 33,990 euros, with keys handed over directly to private customers. This is 2,010 euros lower than the list price of 36,000 euros.

At this price, the Seltos Sport comes equipped with the same engine as the top-tier X-Line version, including two-zone automatic climate control, a rear camera, and intelligent cruise control. The most significant difference between the two versions lies in the transmission: manual in the Sport, automatic in the X-Line.

Familiar like the Sportage, but more compact

With a length of 4.43 meters, the Seltos is shorter than the Sportage in Kia’s lineup. Nevertheless, it offers 536 liters of cargo space when all five seats are in use. It’s an interesting combination for those looking for a car for family trips who still need to deal with parking challenges in big cities daily.

When larger items need to be carried, folding the seats allows the cargo space to reach 1511 liters. The trunk also features a two-level adjustable floor. For rear passengers, another useful feature for long trips is that the seats are reclined.

Why Choose an X-Line?

Inside, both versions share a three-screen dashboard layout and wireless connectivity for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Wireless phone charging is also standard. In terms of safety, emergency autonomous braking and blind spot monitoring are included from the Sport version onward.

The X-Line is particularly attractive to those who prefer an automatic transmission. It costs 39,490 euros, ready for delivery, as part of a promotional offer for private buyers, compared to the listed price of 41,500 euros. The dual-clutch transmission has seven speeds with paddle shifts on the steering wheel; the Sport model’s manual transmission has six gears.

The 5,500 euro difference also includes improved comfort and a more sporty interior in dark tones: all seats feature eco-organic upholstery, and the front seats are now heated (along with the steering wheel). The driver’s seat comes with electric adjustment, and the audio system is upgraded to Harman/Kardon.

The electric rear door and 360-degree camera enhance convenience when using the trunk and maneuvering. For those who spend a lot of time in traffic, the ease of use of the automatic transmission will still be the most immediate advantage.

Kia Seltos profile

The 1.6 T-GDi four-cylinder engine delivers 180 horsepower and 265 Nm of torque. According to the South Korean manufacturer, the Sport version accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.2 seconds, while the X-Line does so in 8.8 seconds.

In terms of fuel consumption, the brand claims 6.8 l/100 km for the Sport version and 7.0 l/100 km for the X-Line version under the WLTP combined cycle. Using these certified figures as a reference, the difference amounts to 20 liters of gasoline per 10,000 kilometers. Based on the stated figures, choosing the automatic transmission has little impact on fuel costs.

When purchasing a car to keep for several years, the warranty also plays a role in the overall cost. The Seltos comes with a seven-year or 150,000-kilometer warranty, whichever comes first, for both the Sport and X-Line versions.

For those who still prefer a gasoline engine, the Seltos offers this option along with ample space for the family and modern features already available in the base version. It is this combination that the current campaign promotes at a price below 34,000 euros.
