The new C 63 AMG doesn’t have a V8 but will be the most powerful ever.
The next Mercedes-AMG C 63 will be electric and could deliver nearly 800 horsepower. Spy photos reveal another of its secrets.
Mercedes-AMG has been far from idle. Just a few days after unveiling the radical CLE 646 Spezialanfertigung, the brand is launching a full-scale electric offensive, featuring a new SUV developed entirely by AMG, a Classe E model, and this Classe C variant we spotted during tests.
Under the body of this future electric Mercedes-AMG Classe C, as the name suggests, there will be no room for a V8, a six-cylinder in-line engine, or even the plug-in hybrid four-cylinder engine from the current C 63. Only electric motors and a high-capacity battery will be used.
The spoiler isn’t there just for show
Although the camouflage hides most of the vehicle’s body, one detail remains visible in these images: the active rear spoiler. Installed on the trunk lid, this element can rise to create more aerodynamic downforce when needed, especially at higher speeds.

The camouflage is particularly dense on this prototype, even hiding the rear lights and the lower parts of the doors.
Nevertheless, it is evident that the future AMG model will have a more aggressive appearance than the conventional electric Classe C, featuring specific bumpers, side skirts, and wheels.
Three engines and nearly 800 horsepower
Mercedes-AMG has not yet confirmed the specifications of the future C 63, but rumors suggest a configuration of three electric motors developed by Yasa, similar to those found in the AMG GT 4-door “super-sedan.”
The combined power is expected to be around 790 horsepower, a figure that would place the future C 63 ahead of the new CLA 45 4MATIC+, which delivers 680 horsepower through a similarly three-motor setup.
Following the pattern seen in the electric AMGs that have already been unveiled, the Classe C is also expected to offer an auditory experience featuring synthesized combustion engine sounds, as well as simulated gear shifts and even active seat vibrations, aiming to recreate some of the sensations lost with the shift to electric propulsion.
As for the battery, it will likely use the largest one found in the regular Classe C, with a capacity of 94 kWh, allowing it to claim a range of up to 762 km. This figure is expected to be lower in the AMG version.

Farewell to combustion
The arrival of the new C 63 will thus mark another turning point for one of AMG’s most renowned models.
After the current generation abandoned the V8 in favor of a plug-in hybrid four-cylinder engine — a decision that sparked considerable debate — the next generation will go even further by completely eliminating the internal combustion engine. At least until a fully new combustion-engine generation is confirmed.

The new C 63 will be electric and must find a way in this configuration to retain what AMG considers essential to the driving experience.
