New Hyundai Ioniq 3: here is the range and prices

The Korean brand has opened pre-orders for its new (and large) electric city car. It offers two battery sizes and six trim levels.

Hyundai finally fills the gap between the Ioniq 5 (3.82 meters) and the Kona (4.35 meters) with the Ioniq 3, a model that is 4.16 meters long and features a unique design. With such dimensions, it can appeal to both customers seeking versatile city cars and those looking for compact vehicles. Yet Hyundai still refers to it as a city car.

The technical specifications appear to be designed with this in mind. There’s a version with a small 42.2 kWh LFP battery paired with a 147 hp engine, claiming up to 344 km of mixed-range mileage with 16-inch wheels. Then there’s the 61 kWh NMC battery with a 135 hp engine, promising up to 497 km in mixed mode. But note that this version also uses 16-inch wheels. With the larger 19-inch wheels, the range drops to 428 km.

Trim Levels and Standard Features

Select: blind spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, dual-zone automatic climate control, hands-free access, rear camera, regenerative braking controls on the steering wheel, 16-inch wheels.

Trend: Select + 17-inch wheels, heated front seats, wireless smartphone charger, rain sensor, battery heating and preconditioning system.

N Line: Trend + N Line body kit, 18-inch wheels, fabric/leather interior, 360° view, European navigation.

Vision: Trend + heat pump, Matrix LED headlights, 18-inch wheels.

Prime: Vision + digital key with smartphone access, Bose audio system, highway driving assistance.

N Line Evo: N Line + digital key, Bose audio system, highway driving assistance, heat pump, Matrix headlights, 19-inch wheels, sunroof.

Prices

Hyundai targets a psychological price point below 30,000 € with a starting price of 29,995 €. This price places the Ioniq 3 in competition with the Renault 4 (2 cm shorter) or the Volkswagen ID.Polo, which costs 29,920 € for its 37 kWh LFP battery (331 km range) and Life trim. With similar technical specifications, the Kia EV2 will be slightly less expensive but also a bit smaller.

Note that at Hyundai, the Kona starts at 36,850 € with a 48 kWh battery and a range of 377 km.

The Ioniq 3, produced in Turkey, is awaiting approval for its eco-score to qualify for an enhanced EU subsidy that will reduce its cost.
