NIU took advantage of the EICMA 2026 exhibition held in Milan to introduce the FQiX 500, a new electric scooter that reaches a top speed of 115 km/h and boasts a range of up to 130 kilometers. The model features a motor with a maximum power output of 9.9 kW and a removable battery system that allows for the installation of up to three batteries. Its release in Europe is scheduled for the first quarter of 2027, and the launch price has already been announced.
An 115 km/h electric scooter with up to three batteries
NIU’s main innovation for 2027 is the FQiX 500, which is developed based on the technical framework of the NQiX 500, but with a reinforced chassis and a more angular design typical of the FQiX series.

The new model reaches 110 km/h under normal conditions, a figure that increases to 115 km/h when using the Boost mode. It also comes standard with ABS brakes and traction control.
It uses two removable 72 V, 28 Ah batteries to power its motor, offering an advertised range of 95 to 100 kilometers. However, an optional third battery can be installed under the seat, which increases the range to 120-130 kilometers according to the manufacturer.
NIU has not yet specified a European homologation cycle for these figures, so they should be considered official estimates rather than actual test results.

NIU upgrades batteries in its electric scooters
The brand has also announced 25 improvements for its 2027 lineup. One of the most interesting updates is the new 72 V, 30 Ah battery, which is more compact and capable of increasing range by up to 7% in certain models. This battery will be available for the NIU NQiX 150 and 300, FQiX 150 and 300, as well as the NQi Sport and GTS models.
It will also be compatible with models released in 2025 and 2026, using the same charger. Another improvement relates to the management of remaining battery power. When the battery drops to 20%, the scooter alerts the rider and gradually reduces its performance, avoiding the sudden slowdown that used to occur when it reached 15%.
The NIU NQiX 500 also features a more durable HC420 steel frame, with its top speed increasing to 115 km/h in Boost mode.

It will arrive in Europe in 2027, and NIU is strengthening its presence in Spain
The upgrade includes tires suitable for all seasons for the CST SC12, brighter headlights, a faster GPS, and improved corrosion resistance.
The new models will arrive at European dealerships during the first quarter of 2027. The new NIU FQiX 500 will start at 4,699 euros, although the price of the third optional battery has not yet been announced.
NIU is also strengthening its commercial presence in Spain. According to the company, it has registered nearly 400 vehicles in the first ten months since its official return, accounting for 6.5% of the private market in its category. It currently has a joint network of over 30 dealerships and repair shops in Spain and Portugal.
With the FQiX 500, NIU aims to expand its presence beyond purely urban commuting by offering an electric scooter capable of handling intercity trips with performance surpassing that of its entry-level models.
