NIU and AICMOTO, a two-year agreement to strengthen the electric sales network

NIU Italia and AICMOTO announce a two-year partnership focused on Italian Flagship Stores, featuring a program for exchanges and tools designed for those who work daily at these retail locations.
Incentives, batteries, support, and customer consultation: the growth of electric two-wheelers also depends on dealerships. For those considering an electric scooter, the dealership is where to find practical answers—such as how much range is needed, how to organize charging, what warranties cover the battery, and—last but not least—who to turn to for support. It is this relationship between the network and customers that the agreement between NIU Italia and AICMOTO, the Italian Motorcycle Dealers Association, is built on.
The partnership will last two years and involve the brand’s flagship stores in Italy. The stated goal is to gather the experience of these dealers and transform it into expertise, operational tools, and joint initiatives to support the development of electric mobility.
According to data from NIU, the brand ended 2025 with over 2,100 registrations, solidifying its position as a leader in Italy’s electric vehicle market. With this agreement, the company aims to complement its commercial growth with efforts focused on improving the professionalism of its network.
From doubts about incentives to store management
The program will cover topics relevant to the daily operations of a dealership: updates on regulations and incentives, process organization, business management, and sharing of the most effective practices.
NIU will bring its expertise in products, technology, market trends, and network development. AICMOTO will contribute to the cross-cutting aspects of dealership management by gathering the needs of industry professionals and helping to turn them into joint initiatives.
For customers, the expected outcome is a dealership better equipped to assist with the selection and use of electric vehicles, from the initial inquiry to post-purchase service.
Michael Castellano, NIU’s Country Manager for Italy, ties this initiative to the brand’s growth and the quality of the experience offered: “The quality of the network is an integral part of this journey: we want to continue growing by paying even more attention to the professionalism of our Flagship Stores and the quality of the experience we provide to customers.”
The Electric Dealer Lab arrives in 2027
One of the planned initiatives is the Electric Dealer Lab, which will be integrated into NIU’s regional Dealer Meetings in 2027.
These meetings will help identify recurring problems, experiences, and solutions already tried by dealers. From these discussions, tools and projects usable by the network should emerge—ways to maintain ongoing communication with sales outlets and identify needs that require action.
Raffaele Papalia: Bringing the Needs of the Electric Sector to the Association
Raffaele Papalia, AICMOTO’s national delegate for Electric Mobility Development and Grid Innovation, serves as the association’s focal point for gathering and presenting the concerns of Italy’s electricity distribution sector. He acts as a bridge between what happens at dealerships and the initiatives the association can pursue.
“Autonomy, charging, incentives, batteries, customer support, and consulting are issues dealers deal with daily,” notes Papalia. “Systematizing these experiences means creating concrete, replicable solutions that are truly useful for retail outlets.”

This listening effort already has a tool in AICMOTO’s Electric Help Desk, through which dealers can report doubts and specific cases related to sales, support, incentives, batteries, and used vehicles. These requests also help identify common needs on which to develop services and training programs. The project is available on the AICMOTO website.
The first public opportunity to formalize the partnership between NIU and AICMOTO will be EICMA 2026, with an official meeting between representatives from both companies.
AICMOTO in brief
What is AICMOTO? It is the Italian Association of Motorcycle Dealers, bringing together companies involved in the distribution of mopeds, motorcycles, quads, spare parts, and accessories. Its purpose is to represent its members, listen to their needs, and develop services and collaborations as outlined in its statutes.
Regarding zero-emission mobility, Raffaele Papalia is the national delegate for Electric Mobility Development and Network Innovation.
He serves as the point of contact to gather feedback from the electric vehicle sector and represent it within the association, translating it into proposals, tools, and opportunities for discussion.
