Nissan: Here is the name of the new electric city car based on the Renault Twingo

Nissan will unveil its new all-electric city car on September 23. It was designed based on the new Twingo. For its name, the brand turned to its recent history.

Never two without three! The new Twingo already has a cousin in the second-generation Dacia Spring, which was just unveiled, and it will soon have a third one as well — this time from Nissan.

The manufacturer indeed built upon the Renault platform to design a new compact city car and thus return to this segment. As for the name, the manufacturer kept it simple: they used the name of the last model they offered in this category. It’s the Pixo. So it’s not Wave, as some competitors had reported. For reference, the Pixo was a small car designed based on the Suzuki Alto. Launched in 2009, it was discontinued by the end of 2013.

Since it is derived from the Twingo, the new model will be 100% electric. The technical specifications will likely remain the same, featuring an 82 hp engine, a 27.5 kWh LFP battery, and a range of around 260 km on mixed cycle testing.

In fact, Nissan kept it simple by only revising a part of the exterior design. This is what they already did to revitalize the Micra, which is a R5 model with a redesigned body. The Pixo will therefore be a minor facelift of the Twingo. The first prototypes seen suggest that the aesthetic overhaul will be less extensive than that of the Spring, which has its own more angular look.

The new Pixo will be unveiled on September 23, 2026.
