Nissan will soon introduce the new electric microcar Pixo

Nissan plans to revive the Pixo name for a return to the European A-segment. The new all-electric city car is set to be officially unveiled soon. It will be positioned below the similarly new and fully electric Micra as a city vehicle.
According to Autocar, production will take place in France by partner Renault, with the model based on the Twingo platform. This collaboration is part of an agreement between the two companies that also includes the next Micra, which is a revised version of the Renault 5.
"The new Nissan Pixo brings fresh energy and fun to the segment of fully electric city cars," said the Japanese company a few days before its launch. "Small in size, but big in personality – the Nissan Pixo expands Nissan’s growing electric portfolio. It was developed specifically for modern urban life, combining compact dimensions with intuitive technology and unmistakable Nissan design. This makes daily driving in the city simple and pleasant."

Nissan claims that with this model, it offers customers “a new and easily accessible option for a fully electric daily drive.” No technical details have been released yet. The specifications of the electric Pixo are expected to match those of the latest generation of the purely battery-powered Twingo, which is 3.79 meters long. This would mean an electric motor with 60 kW (82 horsepower) at the front axle and a 27.5-kW battery, providing an WLTP range of around 260 kilometers. The starting price is likely to be just under 20,000 euros, similar to the Twingo.

The name Pixo has a history in Europe: It was previously used for a Nissan model that was identical to the Suzuki Alto and was produced on the same assembly line as its counterpart in India. The Pixo, available in the German market from 2009 to 2013, was at that time one of the cheapest options in its class at a price of 7990 euros.
