The Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer Nio delivered a total of 107,658 electric vehicles in the second quarter of 2026. This represented a 49.4 percent increase compared to the previous year’s quarter and a 29.0 percent increase from the first three months of 2026. Of these, 60,945 vehicles were from the core Nio brand, 29,124 from Onvo, and 17,589 from Firefly.
With higher sales volume, revenue also increased significantly. Nio generated revenues of 32.14 billion RMB between April and June, which is approximately 4.18 billion euros. This represents a 69.1 percent increase compared to the second quarter of 2025, and a 25.9 percent rise compared to the first quarter of 2026. Vehicle sales alone saw a year-on-year increase of 80.1 percent to 29.06 billion RMB (3.78 billion euros). Nio attributes this growth to both higher sales volume and an elevated average selling price due to changes in the product lineup.
The profitability metrics also improved compared to the previous year. The vehicle margin was 18.5 percent, up from 10.3 percent in the second quarter of 2025, while the group’s overall gross margin rose from 10.0 percent to 18.4 percent. However, when compared directly with the first quarter of 2026, both figures declined slightly. Under the GAAP accounting standard, Nio continued to post a loss: the net loss amounted to 528 million RMB (68.6 million euros). After adjusting for stock-based compensation and other defined items, the company reported a non-GAAP net profit of 26.1 million RMB (3.4 million euros).
The strong operational momentum continued after the end of the quarter with high delivery volumes. In July, Nio delivered 35,934 vehicles across the group, and 35,836 in August. Thus, deliveries from January to the end of August totaled 262,893 units, which was 57.9 percent higher than the same period last year according to the company. For the third quarter, Nio forecasts deliveries of 108,000 to 111,000 units, along with revenue ranging from 33.29 to 34.05 billion RMB (4.33 to 4.43 billion euros).
The sharply increased global deliveries cannot be directly transferred to the European market, as Nio does not publish its quarterly figures as a regionally broken down Europe report. In Germany, the brand still offers several battery-electric models such as the ET5, ET5 Touring, ET7, EL6, EL7, and EL8, but it is currently considered to be less successful.
