NFOŚiGW will subsidize over 840 truck charging stations. Among the winners are Ekoen, GreenWay, Anwim, and others.

The National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management has approved projects to build electric charging stations for trucks and buses. There will be 843 chargers at 170 locations, both along the TEN-T transport corridors and in logistics and transshipment centers. Some of these charging stations will also include energy storage facilities. Among the largest recipients of funding are well-known Polish operators, including Ekoen and GreenWay.

Electric truck charging stations are getting closer

According to documents published by NFOŚiGW, the organization will support, as part of the TEN-T road network, up to 62 GreenWay Polska projects, 26 Ekoenu projects, 7 Anwimu projects (the Moya station network), 3 Polenergia projects, 3 Tauron projects, and 3 Citroneks projects. GreenWay Polska, the largest beneficiary, plans to establish a total of 62 charging hubs with 205 chargers capable of 1 MW each. The devices are intended to operate at a capacity of no less than 350 kW, and their estimated cost per location in the GreenWay network ranges from 3 to 6 million zlotys, with NFOŚiGW covering 5/6 of the cost.

Under the TEN-T network, charging stations are to be built right next to TEN-T roads or no more than 3 kilometers away from the nearest exit from a TEN-T road. Drivers of passenger cars experience that for this second option to be attractive, it must either be located along transport routes or offer competitive pricing. In this category, the support will amount to 742 million zlotys for 129 projects comprising 687 charging stations with a total capacity of 500 MW and 12 energy storage facilities with a capacity of 44 MW.

Based on the development of charging port technology, these will be devices with CCS2 and MCS connectors, corresponding to ultra-fast and megafast charging stations for electric passenger cars.

In addition, NFOŚiGW will subsidize 41 projects involving a total of 156 chargers, supported here and there by 6 energy storage facilities located in logistics centers, operational bases, and loading terminals, or within a distance of no more than 3 kilometers from them. Among the companies interested in receiving subsidies for chargers, the degree of fragmentation is much higher; there are no operators involved, but rather companies such as Grupa DBK (9 units), WTC, a DAF dealer (4 units), Inpost (4 units), MJB Properties (4 units), Energo Operator (3 units), Colian (2 units), Sebastian Pazurek Deka-Trans (2 units), and others.

The cost of this subsidy will amount to 200 million zlotys, meaning the total budget for subsidies is 0.94 billion zlotys. The funds will come from the Modernization Fund, an instrument funded by proceeds from the sale of CO2 emission allowances (total budget: 2 billion zlotys).
