Reports indicate the new Tesla Roadster could be introduced in August

Tesla might unveil the long-delayed Roadster in an updated version as early as August, according to Reuters and The Information. Tesla itself has not confirmed any date in August so far and initially did not respond to requests for comment from the media.
If the presentation does take place, it would come almost nine years after the surprise debut of the Roadster prototype in November 2017. At that time, Tesla had planned to launch the successor to the original Roadster in 2020. However, that never happened: CEO Elon Musk repeatedly postponed and missed delivery deadlines.
Current reports suggest that Tesla intends to take the prototype shown in 2017 beyond the prototype stage and prepare an even further refined version. It is possible that a limited edition featuring a nozzle system developed in collaboration with Musk’s aerospace company SpaceX could also be demonstrated at the event.
Caution is warranted when it comes to technical specifications. On its German Roadster website, Tesla still lists a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 2.1 seconds, a top speed of over 400 km/h, and a range of 1,000 kilometers per charge. These figures are based on the vehicle generation announced years ago. It remains unclear whether these values will apply to the newly reported development.
Key questions remain unresolved for Germany and Europe. Tesla has not yet announced a solid European market launch date, current prices, or specific delivery timelines for the revised version. Reservations can still be made in Germany, requiring an initial deposit of 4,000 euros along with a bank transfer of 39,000 euros within 10 days.
However, spectacular features such as the thrust system previously announced by Musk may face difficulties in obtaining EU approval for use on public roads. What matters most are the actual standard equipment installed and its approval under relevant European type-approval regulations.
