The new Skoda Epiq can now also be ordered as a “First Edition”.

The new Skoda Epiq can now also be ordered as a “First Edition”.

Skoda, Volkswagen’s Czech subsidiary, is introducing a “First Edition” of its new electric SUV, the Epiq. It is now available for order at prices starting from 38,950 euros. The Skoda Epiq 55 “First Edition” features the most powerful engine option from the series, additional premium features that would otherwise cost extra, as well as exclusive design elements both inside and outside.

The Skoda Epiq is part of Volkswagen Group’s “Electric Urban Car Family,” which includes not only the Epiq itself but also the VW ID. Polo and ID. Cross, as well as the Cupra Raval. What these four models have in common is that they are based on the upgraded MEB+ electric platform and utilize Volkswagen Group’s new unified battery cell for the first time. They are also said to be relatively affordable, with prices expected to start around 25,000 euros.

The now introduced limited “First Edition” of the Skoda Epiq is far from that, as it starts at 38,950 euros. By doing so, Skoda follows a trend in the automotive industry of launching new models with a particularly high-end trim option that includes many features otherwise available only as optional add-ons. Other manufacturers also refer to this as a “Launch Edition.”

Specifically, Skoda has equipped the “First Edition” of this electric SUV, introduced in May and measuring just 4.17 meters in length, with an electric drive system delivering 155 kW of power and a 55-kWh traction battery that allows for a range of up to 430 kilometers. Both the motor and the battery represent the highest performance and capacity available in this series. In addition, there are three special equipment packages along with a range of exclusive interior and exterior features.

Design accents in orange and black

One of the design features includes orange accents on the exterior mirror housings, the trim strip above the side windows, and at each air intake on the front and rear bumpers – while the exclusive black 20-inch Macaw alloy wheels also feature an orange stripe. The roof rail is finished in high-gloss black, as are the lettering and a “First Edition” emblem.

Inside the Skoda Epiq “First Edition,” there are orange safety belts and contrast stitching, a black roof canopy, sporty pedal covers with a stainless-steel look, as well as door sills with an Epiq logo.

The standard paint color is Marble Gray, with optional colors including Timiano Green, Aluminium Silver Metallic, and Platinum White Metallic, all paired with a roof in the contrasting Mystery Black Pearl effect. Upon request, the vehicle is also available entirely in Mystery Black Pearl effect.

Three equipment packages included

The “First Edition” package also includes the “Light & Sight” equipment suite, which features matrix LED headlamps, Dynamic Light Assist, as well as cornering and bad weather lighting. Included in the price are also the otherwise additional “Comfort” package, which includes heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, a 2-zone climate control system, and tinted rear side and tail windows (Sunset), as well as the “Technology” package, which offers keyless vehicle access Kessy, driving mode selection, a rearview camera, and a phone box with inductive charging functionality.

In addition to the “First Edition,” the compact electric SUV is currently available in the Skoda Epiq 55 Essence trim (starting at 32,100 euros) and the Skoda Epiq 55 Selection trim (starting at 35,600 euros), both of which also come equipped with a system power output of 155 kW and a 55-kWh battery. The significantly cheaper base model, the Skoda Epiq 35, is expected to be available for ordering starting in September at prices from 25,900 euros. The Epiq 35 will be equipped with a system power output of 85 kW and a battery capacity of 38.5 kWh, among other features. Additionally, the Epiq 40, featuring a system power output of 99 kW, a 38.5-kWh battery, and a price of 27,900 euros, is also set to launch in September.
