The new Genesis GV90 comes with a system power output of 490 kW.

For the first time, technical details are available on the highly anticipated new flagship model GV90 from Hyundai’s luxury brand Genesis. This electric SUV delivers 490 kW of power thanks to its twin-motor drive system and features a battery with a net capacity of 115 kWh.
It was revealed in 2023 that Genesis is planning a fully electric SUV based on Hyundai Group’s new eM electric platform, and the model name GV90 has been known since then. The Genesis GV90 is expected to have similar dimensions to the group’s Hyundai Ioniq 9 and Kia EV9 models, which are still built on the well-known E-GMP platform.
Last summer, it was reported that the GV90 would be unveiled in June 2026. However, that deadline has passed, and the electric luxury SUV, designed to compete with models such as the Mercedes EQS SUV version or the Cadillac Lyriq, is still pending. Although images of heavily camouflaged prototypes have appeared online, nothing more has been revealed so far.
At least technical details about Hyundai’s new flagship SUV are now available. These come from certification data submitted to South Korea’s Ministry of Environment (KENCIS) on August 10, 2026. According to this data, the GV90 will feature all-wheel drive with a system power output of 490 kW, distributed across a front motor producing 240 kW and a rear motor producing 250 kW.
The drive system is powered by a battery with a total capacity of 123.5 kWh, of which 115 kWh are usable. The nominal voltage is 703 volts. This should not be confused with the system voltage of the onboard electrical network, which is 800 volts. This allows for particularly short fast charging times, although these are not specified in the South Korean homologation documents.
The documents state that Genesis has obtained approval for various seating configurations (6-seater and 7-seater) with either 22-inch or 24-inch wheels. The vehicle’s curb weight is listed at 3,030 kg, with a maximum allowable weight of 3,665 kg — which could pose issues in the EU for drivers holding a Class B license, as that license is valid only up to 3.5 tons in total weight. Mercedes-Benz recently addressed this issue with its new electric van, the VLE, by offering different configurations with total weights of 3.5 and 3.7 tons.
