Ford Pro has opened orders for the new Transit City. The latest addition to the Transit family is designed for efficiency and cost-effectiveness according to the manufacturer, and it’s specifically suited for urban use. Target markets include bakeries, landscape gardeners, and delivery services.
The Transit City features a loading length of over 3 meters, a cargo space of up to 8 cubic meters, and a maximum payload of 1275 kilograms. Its electric motor delivers 110 kW (150 horsepower) and is connected to a lithium-iron-phosphate battery (LFP) with a usable capacity of 56 kWh. This gives the Transit City a range of 254 kilometers per WLTP standard — more than double the average daily distance traveled by 90 percent of all commercial vehicles in this segment, according to Ford.
In the city cycle, the application scenario emphasized by the manufacturer, the Transit City is said to offer a range of up to 381 kilometers. According to the manufacturer, its battery pack can be charged from 10% to 80% in about 33 minutes at a fast charging station.
To keep complexity and costs low, the Transit City is available only with one powertrain option, one battery size, and one set of standard features, explains Ford. “This package includes everything customers need specifically for urban driving, such as front and rear park assist systems, a reverse camera, traffic sign recognition, one-pedal drive, and an anti-theft alarm system.”

For body styles, customers have several options: The Transit City is available as a van in two lengths and heights. The L1/H1 version is 4.985 meters long, 1.991 meters high, with a wheelbase of 3.060 meters. The L2/H2 version is 30 centimeters longer and 29.4 centimeters taller, with a wheelbase that is also 30 centimeters longer.
For the first time, Ford Pro offers a single-cab version with a chassis in the 1-ton payload class alongside the Transit City. This is designed to make the new electric van suitable as a base vehicle for business customers in all industries. These specialized solutions are implemented by Ford Pro’s 39 certified conversion and modification partners in Germany. Additionally, the Transit City is available for ordering directly at Ford dealerships with a bed or a cargo box setup.
