Mothers' guarantees for half a fjell

The car tax guarantee war is underway, with some offering price guarantees in the same vein. And one is dropping the tax guarantee but offering a discount of over 60,000.

The anticipated increase in car tax starting in 2027 makes the timing of registration crucial for many considering a new vehicle.
Last week, we reported that Audi planned to attract customers to its new A2 with a tailored version of the old “tax guarantee” offer:
This week, several other brands have followed suit. Two weeks before the government budget is presented — when the planned increase in car tax is expected to be part of it — Kia, Volvo, and Peugeot say they are offering similar deals.
The best deal from last year, with any campaign benefits still included
It’s similar to Peugeot’s current offer.
If ordered before the year-end, Peugeot will cover the tax if the car is registered in 2027, which goes further than Audi’s A2 offer, where the car had to be registered in the first half of next year.
At the same time, Peugeot customers retain any agreed promotional benefits.
The car brand also introduced a tax guarantee last autumn when the tax threshold was set at purchase prices over 300,000 kroner. But back then, customers had to choose between the promotional offer and tax coverage.
This time, both benefits are combined, illustrating how competition in the automotive industry has become even fiercer.
– Customers should not have to give up a good deal, such as our recently announced campaign discount, just to avoid tax implications. The warranty also applies when we know at the time of ordering that the car will not be delivered until 2027, says Peugeot director Torgeir Stadheim at importer Bertel O. Steen.
Even with leasing, the corresponding brand cost is covered, so customers do not face higher upfront lease payments or monthly fees due to tax issues.
However, Peugeot clarifies that cars ready for registration in 2026 must be registered in 2026. The warranty does not apply if the customer chooses to delay registration until 2027.

Kia offers an additional price guarantee
Kia also announced yesterday that it is offering both tax and price guarantees on most of its electric vehicle models due by next year. The EV2 model is the only car that isn’t included in this offer at present.
And by price guarantee, they mean the following:
“That the customer avoids any possible price increase from the manufacturer, in addition to receiving the current promotion. This could be a winter tire campaign, price discounts, or favorable interest rates. The promotions vary from model to model,” Kia states.
The condition is that you sign the purchase contract this year—and commit to it.
Kia says the initial offer is valid until “mid-October,” meaning the middle of next month, but it would be surprising if they didn’t extend it throughout the year.
Volvo is also offering incentives, but for now only on one model
Earlier this week, it was also reported that Volvo is offering a VAT guarantee for the EX60 model at several dealerships, including Volvo Cars in Greater Oslo.
But you’ll need to act quickly here and place your order by October 31, 2026, to be covered in case of any VAT charges if the car is delivered in 2027.
The guarantee here is capped at 37,500 kroner, so it remains to be seen whether it will be extended to orders placed later in the year.

New Leaf on Sale
Finally, a little bombshell:
You won’t get a VAT guarantee if you buy the new version of the Nissan Leaf.
To make up for losses, Nissan is dropping a small price bomb amid the current tough market conditions.
The new version of the Leaf, despite positive reviews from car reviewers, hasn’t sold out worldwide. That’s why they’re now cutting prices significantly—if you buy the car this year:
The model with the largest 75 kWt battery now comes with a discount of 62,500 kroner.
The base model with a 52 kWt battery comes with a discount of 50,000 kroner.
