Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross: 472 and 650 km with new batteries

Mitsubishi adds a 67-kWh LFP battery to the Eclipse Cross BEV, offering up to 472 km of WLTP range. The long-range version sees its battery capacity increase from 87 to 89 kWh, boosting range to 650 km while charging nine minutes faster.

Mitsubishi Motors Europe is expanding the battery options for the Eclipse Cross BEV. An additional mid-size battery option with 67 kWh and LFP cell technology is now available for this electric SUV. Meanwhile, a 89-kWh battery replaces the previous long-range version. Both versions are set to become available starting in November 2026. The manufacturer announced these changes on September 9, 2026, from its European headquarters in Amstelveen.
Mitsubishi aims to give customers a choice between range, charging performance, and price with these two battery sizes. The model was introduced to the market last year. The announcement does not specify exact prices for the two variants.
Powertrain and towing capacity are identical in both variants
Regardless of the battery chosen, the powertrain delivers 162 kW (220 hp). There is also no difference in towing capacity: both versions can pull up to 1,100 kilograms. Both variants charge at 11 kW on AC power, with a 22-kW onboard charger available depending on the market and trim level according to Mitsubishi. Those who opt for the smaller battery must compromise only on range, not on other vehicle features.

67-kWh battery with LFP cells as a more affordable entry point
The new mid-size battery is aimed, according to the manufacturer, at drivers who primarily travel in urban and suburban areas and are looking for a cheaper way to enter the electric vehicle market. The lithium-iron-phosphate cell chemistry contains no nickel or cobalt and is increasingly found in entry-level models within this vehicle class.
Mitsubishi claims a range of up to 472 kilometers under WLTP conditions for this version. At a fast charging station, the battery level is said to rise from 15% to 80% in about 24 minutes, with the manufacturer stating a maximum charging capacity of 165 kW.

89 instead of 87 kWh: greater range and shorter charging time
The long-range version with NMC cells now has a capacity of 89 kWh instead of the previous 87 kWh. As a result, the maximum WLTP range increases from 635 kilometers to up to 650 kilometers. The improvement in charging time is more noticeable: the process from 15% to 80% charge is reduced by up to nine minutes, taking around 28 minutes instead. Mitsubishi claims a peak charging power of 150 kW.
Notably, the smaller LFP battery achieves a higher peak charging power of 165 kW, while the larger battery takes slightly longer to charge despite its greater capacity. According to the manufacturer, the 89-kWh version is aimed at customers who regularly drive long distances and desire the longest possible intervals between charging stops.

Warranty Coverage and Limitations
Like all Mitsubishi models sold in Europe, the Eclipse Cross comes with the manufacturer’s service package. This includes a factory warranty of five years or 100,000 kilometers, along with an additional, condition-based extended warranty of three years, resulting in a total of eight years or 160,000 kilometers. There is also a rust protection warranty of twelve years and a battery warranty of eight years or 160,000 kilometers. The mobility warranty lasts eight years as well, with the same conditions applying to the final three years as those for the extended warranty.
Mitsubishi notes that range and fuel consumption figures may vary depending on the market and configuration. The same applies to the availability of the 22-kW onboard charger.
