It measures 5.24 meters, weighs 2,900 Kg, and has 897 horsepower: Zeekr sets a European price for its best hybrid SUV, but it’s by no means cheap.

Zeekr has become one of China’s most highly valued brands. Part of the Geely Group (which also includes Volvo, Polestar, and Lynk & Co), the company is actively expanding into Europe. Following the introduction of its first notable models such as the Zeekr 7X and the more recent Zeekr 7GT — which we have already tested — the brand brings to Europe its largest, most luxurious, heaviest, and most expensive vehicle: the Zeekr 9X. Unlike its existing models, this one is offered as a plug-in hybrid version.

In a few months, the Zeekr 9X will be available in Spain, along with its smaller sibling, the Zeekr 8X. However, the Netherlands has become their entry point to the Old Continent. Zeekr has already announced its selling prices, which are anything but affordable. In fact, the 9X is now the second most expensive Chinese car in the country, only surpassed by Dongfeng’s quirky MHero 1. Its starting price is 122,000 euros, double that in China, though it must be admitted to be a very high-end vehicle. It is a serious competitor to the BMW X, Mercedes GLS, and Audi Q9.

897 HP plug-in hybrid system with 330 kW charging

Besides its massive appearance and elegant, refined design, the 9X arrives in Europe to become Zeekr’s first plug-in hybrid in the region. Hidden beneath its robust chassis is a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder gasoline engine that delivers 275 horsepower, complemented by additional electric motors. Together, the system offers a maximum power output of 897 horsepower and a torque of 935 Nm. This powerful combination enables the vehicle to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.1 seconds.

The electricity supply is provided by a battery module with a net capacity of 55.1 kWh, sufficient to achieve an emissions-free range of 179 kilometers (WLTP). The total combined range is 737 kilometers (WLTP). In terms of charging, its high-voltage electrical architecture supports DC fast charging at up to 330 kW, reducing stop times to levels typical of purely electric vehicles. At full capacity, it can recover from 10% to 80% of its range in just 9.5 minutes.

Large size and six-seater interior

The Zeekr 9X is the largest model in the Zeekr family, with a body length of 5,240 millimeters and a width exceeding two meters. It features a generous wheelbase of 3,170 millimeters, giving it similar dimensions to an extended Range Rover. Adding to these impressive figures is a curb weight of 2,900 kilograms and a maximum towing capacity of 2 tons. Despite this, the Zeekr 9X is capable of reaching a top speed of 240 km/h.

The interior layout features three rows of seats arranged in a unique configuration with six individual seats each. The driver’s seat and rear area are equipped with a 13-inch digital instrument cluster along with two OLED screens measuring 3.5K resolution and 16 inches in diagonal size. In addition to a full suite of standard technologies, the optional accessories include 22-inch Monoblock wheels for an additional 1,200 euros, a body-colored grille for 2,000 euros, brown leather upholstery for 1,600 euros, and a black exterior package for 5,100 euros.

More options in the future

In China, a Zeekr 9X with two rows of seats and 5 seating positions has just been unveiled. The brand’s Spanish subsidiary says they expect this version to arrive in our country as well, though no confirmed date has been given yet. This is because it features a more traditional layout seen in Europe, which could help boost sales of this large plug-in hybrid SUV. As we’ve mentioned before, no one expected this Zeekr to come to Europe with 6 seats. Lastly, it’s worth noting that this SUV comes with a 10-year/200,000 km warranty and an 8-year/200,000 km warranty for its battery.
