Mercedes-AMG provides further insights into its upcoming all-electric performance SUV. New teaser images show the vehicle largely covered by a black shroud, but reveal its proportions, lighting signature, and certain outlines. AMG positions this model as a standalone performance vehicle, aiming it not to be merely an electric version of an existing Mercedes SUV.
Technically, the SUV is based on the AMG.EA architecture developed specifically for all-electric high-performance models. Mercedes-AMG first announced this vehicle in November 2024 as the brand’s first self-developed high-performance SUV.
The SUV will be the second production model based on the AMG.EA architecture, following the new electric Mercedes-AMG GT 4-door coupe. The four-door GT was unveiled in May, with another variant of this series released at the beginning of August.

The current teasers suggest, in terms of design, a connection to the GT 4-door model. Notable features include distinctive headlights with Mercedes star motifs and a significantly taller silhouette typical of SUVs. No definitive information about dimensions, aerodynamic values, or interior design can be inferred from the images yet.
Same caution is needed regarding performance, battery size, range, and charging speed. The media expect technical overlaps with the electric GT 4-door, but Mercedes-AMG has not confirmed specific specifications for this SUV yet. No official date for the full debut has been announced so far.
A glimpse into the technology of this E-SUV is provided by the battery-powered GT 4-door coupe, now available in three performance levels. At launch, Mercedes-AMG introduced the GT 55 with 600 kW (816 hp) of system power and the GT 63 with 860 kW (1,169 hp). Both models feature three axial flux motors and a 106-kWh battery, delivering ranges of 681 or 688 WLTP kilometers respectively. In early August, the GT 53 was added to the lineup as an entry-level model. It uses two permanent magnet synchronous motors for 400 kW (544 hp) of system power and offers a range of up to 797 kilometers per charge. All variants share an 800-volt architecture and a charging capacity of 600 kW.
