Mercedes-AMG GT SUV: an electric powerhouse with 1,169 horsepower and supercar performance

The first SUV developed by Mercedes-AMG is an electric model with extraordinary specifications: over 5 meters in length, up to 1,169 horsepower, and a 0 to 100 km/h acceleration time of just 2.5 seconds...
Just a few months after the 4-door coupe, Mercedes-AMG unveils the GT SUV, marking the first SUV fully developed in-house by the engineers at Affalterbach. It is also the second vehicle built on the AMG.EA platform, designed for high-performance electric vehicles.
It’s almost an understatement when reading the technical specs (unsurprisingly based on those of the 4-door coupe). With its three axial-flow engines, the 63 version can reach 860 kW, or 1,169 horsepower! The maximum torque is 2,000 Nm, enabling it to go from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.5 seconds. The 55 model retains the three engines but has a reduced power output of 600 kW, still delivering 816 horsepower.
In the base 53 variant, there are two synchronous motors with a maximum power of 400 kW, or 544 horsepower. Although this is half the power of the 63 model, its performance remains super-sporty, with a 0 to 100 km/h time of 3.8 seconds! This version comes equipped with a battery having a net capacity of 106 kWh, offering a WLTP combined range of up to 668 km.
Ultra-fast charging
The other models have a 128 kWh battery, providing a range of up to 700 km. Thanks to the 800V architecture, they offer high charging speeds, with 600 kW for the 53 model and even 710 kW for the 55 and 63 models! This allows the battery to go from 10% to 80% charged in just 12 minutes… provided an appropriate charging station is available!
The power output is related to the vehicle’s dimensions, which are 5.08 meters long, 2.00 meters wide, and 1.66 meters high. Its design follows that of a sedan rather than emphasizing elegance, featuring a grille that seems ready to grip the road (with optional illuminated slats) or six rear lights styled like turbines. On the 55 and 63 models, the roof spoiler automatically adjusts its position to reduce aerodynamic drag or increase driving stability depending on the driving conditions—but only at speeds above 150 km/h. The rear steering wheels will add agility to this massive vehicle.
The dashboard is shared with the 4-door coupe. There is a 14-inch central screen facing the driver, who also has a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster in front of them. The passenger can have their own screen (14 inches). The wide central console houses the “AMG Race Engineer” control unit with three rotary controls for individual adjustment of response, cornering, and skid behavior.
Pricing will be unveiled on October 20, with a base price of 112,350 €.
