Mercedes lowers price of its new iconic electric sedan with 421 HP, nearly 700 km range, and 320 kW charging capability

Mercedes-Benz continues to roll out its new electric Mercedes Class C lineup gradually. After introducing the model with the C 400 4MATIC, the company has now opened orders for a second version that retains both engines and all-wheel drive but reduces power, battery capacity, and above all, price.
This is the Mercedes C 300 4MATIC electric model, which for now can only be configured and purchased in Germany. Its starting price there is 62,951 euros, which is 4,760 euros less than the C 400 4MATIC’s price of 67,711 euros. Mercedes has not yet announced when this new variant will arrive in Spain or what its price will be in our market.
421 HP and up to 690 km of range
The price reduction doesn’t mean modest performance. The C 300 4MATIC uses two electric motors that provide all-wheel drive and generate 421 HP. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.5 seconds, with a top speed limited to 210 km/h. The main technical difference from the C 400 4MATIC lies in the battery. Instead of the 94.5 kWh capacity of the higher-end model, the new C 300 is equipped with an 85 kWh battery. Mercedes claims a WLTP range of up to 689 km, practically 690 km depending on the configuration. The C 400 can achieve 743 km thanks to its larger battery.
It also loses very little in charging power. Its 800-volt electrical architecture supports up to 320 kW of DC power, compared to 330 kW on the C 400. Under optimal conditions, it can go from 10% to 80% charge in 22 minutes, and Mercedes claims that ten minutes connected to a sufficiently powerful charger allows it to regain up to 290 km of range. The C 400 4MATIC remains clearly more powerful. Its two engines generate 360 kW, equivalent to 489 horsepower, and accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in exactly four seconds. Its top speed is likewise limited to 210 km/h.
The range still needs to grow significantly
The C 300 4MATIC also won’t remain the most affordable version of the electric Class C for long. Mercedes is preparing additional options to gradually expand the range and cover a much wider range of prices and driving ranges. According to reports from Germany, one of the upcoming models will be the C 250. It would retain the 85 kWh battery from the C 300 but drop the second motor, using only rear-wheel drive. It is expected to deliver around 354 horsepower and approximately 720 km of WLTP range thanks to its lower consumption. These figures have not yet been officially confirmed by Mercedes.
The C 300+ will also be introduced later, featuring a single rear engine paired with the large 94.5 kWh battery. Mercedes has already indicated that this version is expected to achieve around 800 km of WLTP range, making it the likely choice for those seeking maximum efficiency and range.
At the lower end, there will be a future C 200 as an entry-level model. Current information suggests it will have a 64 kWh LFP battery, around 313 horsepower, and approximately 545 km of WLTP range. It will be the only model in the lineup to use LFP batteries, while the others will rely on NCM batteries. Above the C 400, an high-performance AMG version is also expected, though Mercedes has not yet disclosed its final specifications.
