Mazda simplifies the 6e. Instead of two versions, there is only one – 560 km range and 200 kW charging.

Simplified Mazda

The previous Mazda 6e lineup required customers to choose between range and charging speed. The base version came with a 68.8 kWh battery, 258 horsepower, and an WLTP range of up to 479 km. The Long Range version featured a larger 80 kWh battery, offering a range of up to 552 km, but it had only 245 horsepower and charged much more slowly. Starting with the 2027 model year, this distinction is eliminated.

One battery instead of two

The Mazda 6e will now use an LFP battery with a capacity of 78 kWh. The engine located at the rear axle delivers 258 horsepower, with power still being sent to the rear wheels.

The range is up to 560 km WLTP, with an average energy consumption of 16.1 kWh/100 km. However, the more significant change is fast charging – the maximum DC power has increased to 200 kW, allowing the battery to go from 10% to 80% in 24 minutes. According to Mazda, this enables the vehicle to gain nearly 400 km of range with a single stop.

The new configuration replaces both the previous base version and the Long Range version. From the customer’s perspective, the range becomes much simpler: there’s no longer a need to choose between a smaller battery with faster charging and a larger battery designed for longer trips.

Handling has also been improved

The changes don’t stop at the battery. Mazda has adjusted the car’s response to the accelerator pedal, increased maximum regenerative braking, and improved performance. The 0-100 km/h acceleration time is now 7.3 seconds, which is 0.3 seconds faster.

The suspension, shock absorbers, and electric power steering have also been updated. The manufacturer claims greater comfort and more precise handling.

The driver assistance systems have been modified as well. Enhanced steering assist can operate up to 160 km/h, and the lane-keeping assistant’s interventions are set to be more gentle.

The navigation, charging planning, and 14.6-inch screen functionality have also been improved. A new feature is Pet Comfort Mode, which helps maintain the desired cabin temperature after leaving the car.

Prices haven’t risen much

The 2027 model year Mazda 6e costs 202,500 zł in Poland for the Takumi version. This is only a few thousand zł more than before (it was 198,500 zł), with the base configuration now featuring a larger battery and significantly better charging capabilities.

The new Homura Plus and Takumi Plus cost starting at 210,900 zł. The Homura Plus comes with features such as black interior finishes, partial Nappa leather upholstery, and red stitching. The Takumi Plus remains a more classic variant, including the option to choose light-colored upholstery.

Competition is exceptionally fierce today

For around 200,000 zł, customers have a truly wide range of cars to choose from. The Hyundai IONIQ 6 starts at 198,800 zł. With recent updates, it can now achieve up to 680 km of WLTP range, and thanks to its 800 V charging system, it takes just 18 minutes to charge from 10% to 80%. The BYD Seal is currently available at 191,400 zł in a promotion for the Design RWD version with a 313 HP engine. The VW ID.7 also costs slightly less than 200,000 zł for the version with a 59 kWh battery, and Volkswagen offered significant discounts on this model, reducing its price below 160,000 zł.

Mazda expands its electric lineup

The 6e is no longer the only major electric vehicle from this Japanese brand. In 2026, the Mazda CX-6e arrived in Polish dealerships, a SUV that is 4.85 meters long.

Interestingly, its powertrain is very similar to that used in the 6e. The CX-6e also features a 78 kWh LFP battery, a 258 HP engine, and rear-wheel drive. It offers a range of up to 484 kilometers and supports DC charging at around 200 kW. In Poland, its price starts at 206,100 zł, while the Takumi Plus is priced at 219,000 zł.

Previously, Mazda’s electric option was the much smaller MX-30. However, development efforts for the brand’s electric lineup are now shifting toward the larger 6e and CX-6e, which were developed in collaboration with the Chinese company Changan.
