The improved Mazda 6e for the 2027 model year. Those who already bought the Long Range version made a terrible choice. PRICE starting at 202,500 Polish zlotys

It’s amazing that more manufacturers relying on Chinese solutions fall into the same trap. Mazda introduced the Mazda 6e, which had decent performance in the Standard Range EV version with a smaller LFP battery of 68.8 (~67) kWh, but was terribly weak in the Long Range EV version with a larger Li-NCM battery of 80 (~76) kWh. The manufacturer recognized this issue and is simplifying its lineup for the new model year. It’s removing the smaller LFP package, dropping the larger Li-NCM option, and now offering only a large LFP battery of 78 (~76) kWh to power a 190 kW/258 hp engine in the rear axle.

The previously sold Mazda 6e EV Long Range, which features a large battery of 80 (~76) kWh, had a weaker engine with 180 kW/245 HP of power and could reach up to 95 kW at chargers, resulting in a dramatically long charging time of 47-48 minutes to go from 10% to 80%. If someone charged it at a garage outlet and mainly drove in the city—where its 337-liter trunk is even suitable for urban trips —they wouldn’t encounter any issues. For longer journeys, it was best to stay within a range of up to 552 WLTP units.

The new Mazda 6e replaces its poorly efficient Li-NCM battery pack with an LFP version that offers a very similar usable capacity of 78 (~76) kWh. This is evident from the range, which increases from 552 to 560 WLTP units (+1.4%). However, the most significant improvement relates to charging: the new LFP battery can be charged from 10% to 80% in 24 minutes, the same time as the previous 68.8 (~67) kWh version. The maximum charging power is 200 kW. As a result, this oddly shaped vehicle with a length of 4.92 meters (E segment) suddenly becomes a convenient car for long trips.

That’s not all: the manufacturer claims the accelerator pedal curve has been tuned, and the regenerative braking force has also been increased. The navigation system will display real-time charging station availability and can adjust routes when a stop to recharge is needed. The new Mazda 6e features an air conditioning retention mode designed for animals left in the cabin. Additionally, standard equipment includes a projection display, 360-degree cameras, and a SonyPro audio system with 14 speakers (weak bass).
