The 2027 Mazda 6e comes with a 78 kWh battery. It offers greater range and 200 kW charging, but it’s not cheap.

Mazda has refreshed the 6e for the 2027 model year and done the sensible thing: it removed two different battery options from the lineup, keeping only one LFP 78 kWh pack. The result is a range of up to 560 km WLTP, 258 HP, and DC charging at up to 200 kW. In Poland, the Takumi version starts at 202,500 zł.

Previously, customers had to choose between a smaller 68.8 kWh battery with faster charging and a larger 80 kWh battery that offered better range but significantly worse charging performance. Now this distinction disappears. And that’s good, as such a configuration was unnecessarily complicated.

One version instead of two

The new Mazda 6e features an LFP 78 kWh battery, an engine at the rear axle, and all-wheel drive. The power output remains at 258 HP. The manufacturer claims a WLTP range of 560 km and an average energy consumption of 16.1 kWh/100 km.

The most significant change relates to charging. The maximum DC power increases to 200 kW, and it now takes 24 minutes to charge from 10% to 80%. Mazda also promises that nearly 400 km of range can be regained with a single charge. On paper, this looks much better than before, though as usual, the issue lies in the charging curve rather than its peak value.

Meanwhile, performance has been improved. The 0-100 km/h sprint now takes 7.3 seconds, which is 0.3 seconds faster than before. The calibration of the accelerator pedal has also been adjusted, maximum regenerative braking has been increased, and the steering assistance has been reprogrammed. Mazda mentions new spring and shock absorber settings as well.

In addition to these, there are changes in the electronics. The enhanced steering assist is now designed to work up to 160 km/h, the lane-keeping assistant intervenes more gently, and the navigation and charging planning have been improved. There’s also a new Pet Comfort Mode that maintains the desired temperature inside the cabin after exiting the car.

Price in Poland and fierce competition

In Poland, the 2027 model year Mazda 6e starts at 202,500 zł for the Takumi version. This is 4,000 zł more than before, as the previous starting price was 198,500 zł. The Homura Plus and Takumi Plus versions are priced higher at 210,900 zł each.

Mazda’s problem is simple: the segment around 200,000 zł has become crowded. The Hyundai IONIQ 6 starts at 198,800 zł, offers up to 680 km of WLTP range, and can reach 10-80% charge in 18 minutes thanks to its 800 V architecture. The BYD Seal is on sale for 191,400 zł for the Design RWD version with 313 HP. The Volkswagen ID.7 also dropped below 200,000 zł, and with large discounts it’s even under 160,000 zł.

Mazda is expanding its lineup of larger electric vehicles. The CX-6e, measuring 4.85 meters in length, has already arrived at Polish dealerships, featuring a very similar powertrain: LFP 78 kWh battery, 258 HP, rear-wheel drive, up to 484 km of WLTP range, and around 200 kW charging power. Prices start at 206,100 zł, while the Takumi Plus version costs 219,000 zł.

Mazda simplified the 6e model in areas where it previously made choices complicated, but today mere simplicity in pricing isn’t enough to win over customers. For 202,500 zł, would you choose the 6e or rather the IONIQ 6, Seal, or ID.7?
