Over 1,000 km of range and all the luxury that impresses the Germans: this is the new Denza N8

BYD continues to prepare the launch of a new electric SUV to expand its premium Denza lineup. The N8 has already been photographed without camouflage, revealing a design that appears to be in production-ready form. It offers a balance of spaciousness for comfortable travel, exceptionally powerful performance, and a high-capacity battery, though several key details remain unknown before its official unveiling.
Firstly, it’s important to clarify that this Denza N8 electric vehicle (BEV) is a different model from the plug-in hybrid (PHEV) that carried the same name in 2023. The new SUV measures 5.15 meters in length, 2.00 meters in width, and 1.82 meters in height, with a wheelbase of 3.08 meters. For comparison within the same family, the six-seater N8L retains the same dimensions but extends the body length to 5.20 meters.
The units photographed feature the Deep Space Blue finish, one of three colors unveiled by Denza along with Aurora Green and Sunlight Orange. A LiDAR sensor is visible on the roof, though it will take some time to determine what driving assistants are included in each version. The presence of this component alone does not guarantee specific functions.
The cabin features a five-seater layout, with rear seats whose backs can recline up to 146 degrees. This is one of the details Denza emphasizes to highlight passenger comfort. In addition to a large trunk capacity unknown at this time, there’s also a 205-liter front compartment that comes in two levels, with separate sections for dry and wet items, along with a drainage system to make cleaning easier.

In terms of mechanics, data on homologation reported by Chinese media suggest two versions with rear-wheel drive, equipped with engines of 320 kW (435 HP) and 370 kW (503 HP). Above that is the all-wheel-drive variant, which combines a front engine of 270 kW (367 HP) with two rear engines, each at 310 kW (421 HP). The total power output reaches 890 kW (1,210 HP), an enormous figure for a family SUV, though available information does not specify its acceleration.
The batteries will be of the LFP Blade type with capacities of 105.79 and 130.15 kWh. The published range figures are 800, 840, 970, and up to 1,003 kilometers under CLTC standards; according to our estimates, this corresponds approximately to 696, 731, 844, and 873 kilometers under WLTP standards respectively. These are approximate calculations, not officially approved figures in Europe, and the highest range is associated with the battery of greater capacity.
Denza also introduces second-generation Blade technology and its Flash Charging system, promising a fast charge in five minutes and a full charge within nine minutes. It’s worth paying attention to the fine print here: the provided information does not specify the start and end percentages for either case, nor all the conditions required to achieve them. For now, these are figures announced by the manufacturer, pending verification through independent tests.
The launch in China is expected in the final quarter of the year, with October 26 cited as a possible date after it allegedly appeared in an interior image. It remains to be seen when it will arrive in Europe, where it is likely to steal sales from several German premium SUVs.
