The Lynk & Co 02 sees its price drop without any reduction in features or range.

The Lynk & Co 02 sees its price drop without any reduction in features or range.

The Lynk & Co 02 had been on the market for only a short time when it already became one of the brand’s most interesting offerings in the electric crossover segment. Now, the manufacturer has decided to expand its range with a new version aimed at making the model more affordable, especially for business customers. It does this without significantly reducing the standard equipment.

The new version, named Lynk & Co 02 Business Edition, has arrived in Europe’s initial markets at a price of 32,990 euros. This represents a considerable difference compared to the Core trim, which starts at 35,495 euros in Spain, while the More trim costs 39,495 euros. In other words, the new trim allows customers to get the 02 for 2,500 euros less.

The key point is that Lynk & Co has not created a particularly basic version. The Business Edition retains the same standard equipment as the 02 Core, so the lower price does not mean giving up many of the features that are already part of the model’s standard setup. The main difference lies in the exterior configuration, as this version is available exclusively with the Onyx Black body color.

The strategy also has a fairly clear target audience. Lynk & Co developed this variant with professional customers and businesses in mind, a group of buyers for whom the purchase price and tax costs can play a significant role when choosing an electric car. The Business Edition thus allows for lower upfront expenses without making the 02 an overly basic model.

272 HP, 66 kWh battery, and up to 435 kilometers

In terms of mechanics, the Lynk & Co 02 Business Edition retains the electric configuration of the standard model. The currently announced units feature an electric motor with 200 kW of power, equivalent to 272 horsepower, paired with a 66 kWh battery and rear-wheel drive. The vehicle can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.5 seconds, a figure that clearly shows it is not an electric car designed solely for efficient urban commuting.

The battery has a capacity of 66 kWh, enabling a range of up to 435 kilometers in the Core trim with 19-inch tires. The 02 lineup also includes the More trim, which achieves a range of up to 445 kilometers according to the WLTP cycle and uses 20-inch tires. In the Business Edition version, the initially announced units still maintain a range of 435 kilometers.

The Lynk & Co 02 is a 4.46-meter-long, five-seater crossover with a uniquely designed body that combines the proportions of a compact SUV with a more sporty silhouette. Inside, it features a modern design and advanced technology, including a rear camera, an eight-speaker sound system, and various connectivity features. The model also offers 5G connectivity and facial recognition capabilities.

Fast charging allows the battery to reach 10% to 80% charge in about 30 minutes under the conditions specified by Lynk & Co for this model. This level of charging enables the 02 to be used for long trips as well, though like any electric vehicle, the actual time will depend on the power available at the charging station and the battery’s condition.

For now, the Business Edition has been announced for the Netherlands, where it will be available starting October 1. Lynk & Co has not confirmed in the announcement regarding this discount that this configuration will be available in other European markets under the same terms. In Spain, the 02 is already available in the Core and More trims, with prices varying depending on current promotions and financing options.

The launch is interesting because the Lynk & Co 02 enters a price range where it begins competing with an increasing number of compact electric cars. On paper, offering a 66 kWh battery, 272 horsepower, and equipment similar to that of the Core model for 32,990 euros, along with a design distinct from its Volvo EX30, Zeekr X, and Smart #5 counterparts, makes this new version an attractive option especially for businesses and professionals looking to keep acquisition costs low.
