Lucid is preparing to enter the French market. Air and Gravity will make their debut in Paris in October.

Lucid has confirmed preparations to enter the French market, working alongside Emil Frey France in doing so. The Lucid Air and Lucid Gravity are set to be unveiled at the Paris Motor Show, which will take place from October 12-18, 2026.

For now, the manufacturer is still keeping the most important details hidden, such as the start date for orders, deliveries, and the scale of its sales network. In other words, entry is already possible, but not yet complete.

Lucid approaches France in its own way

The most interesting aspect of this move isn’t just the booth in Paris, but rather the business model. Lucid is not handing France over to a traditional importer with full control over the brand. The Americans want to be responsible themselves for imports, sales strategy, and customer service.

Emil Frey France is set to provide operational support, but the company has not specified exactly what will be provided to the partner. We also do not know the number of planned sales and service outlets or the scale of the investment.

This approach mirrors the strategy Lucid has already adopted in Europe. The brand combines its own presence with the infrastructure of major trading partners. In Germany, the independent dealer Wackenhut joined the network, and in France, Lucid is following a similar path, though with its own import operations.

Emil Frey France itself is no small player. In 2025, the company sold over 193,000 new and used vehicles and generated €4.7 billion in revenue. It is also the official importer for Mitsubishi and Subaru.

Air and Gravity will enter the market, but no sales dates yet

The French lineup will initially include two models: the Lucid Air and Lucid Gravity. Their debut at the Paris auto show will be the brand’s first official public appearance in this market.

France was included in Lucid’s European expansion plans as early as 2026. Along with Belgium, the manufacturer announced plans to enter Denmark, France, Italy, Austria, Sweden, and Spain as well that year.

Some of these plans have already begun. In June, Lucid opened a test drive center in Brussels. On the other hand, expansion into Austria and Spain, originally scheduled for 2026, is set to be delayed until 2027. In short, the timeline isn’t perfectly on schedule.

For the Polish reader, this is a sign that Lucid is still establishing a presence in Europe, but cautiously and step by step. France seems more concrete today than Austria or Spain, yet without orders or delivery dates, we are still talking more about setting up a foothold rather than full-scale sales commencement.

Lucid aims to be a premium brand in Europe with direct control over customers, but for now it’s easier to showcase cars at trade shows than to provide dealership addresses. How do you view this approach: better than a traditional importer, or is it too vague?
