The Lotus Eletre comes equipped with "Hyper Pilot" for use on German highways

Lotus is introducing the “Lotus Hyper Pilot” feature for Eletre customers in Germany via a new over-the-air software update. It is available to drivers of this electric SUV on designated highway sections along the Frankfurt–Stuttgart–Munich corridor, including parts of the A3, A5, A8, and A99 highways. This feature is available only on roads that support it.

This launch follows Lotus’s UN R171 certification at the beginning of this year. The company claims to be the second automaker in the world and the first British manufacturer to obtain this certification. “Lotus Hyper Pilot” combines lane centering, adaptive cruise control, and monitored assistance for overtaking.

The function is designed to reduce the driver’s workload during long highway trips. The responsibility for vehicle control remains with the driver at all times. Eletre customers in Germany will receive free access to the Premium Package, which supports “Lotus Hyper Pilot,” for a twelve-month introductory period until July 29, 2027.

Additional updates for Eletre and Emeya

The update also brings new features to the Eletre and the sports sedan Emeya in Europe. “Active Sound Design” generates enhanced, performance-oriented organic sounds that respond to factors such as acceleration, braking, steering input, and driving modes. With “Drive Setup,” frequently used vehicle and driver assistance settings can be saved and activated with a single touch.

According to Lotus, other changes include improved monitoring of isolation errors to detect problems earlier and provide automatic system protection. In the Eletre, the warning functions for fatigue and distraction have been revised, while in the Emeya, the display of the auto-hold status has been improved. Customers receive a notification as soon as their vehicle is ready to download and install the update.

“Lotus Hyper Pilot” requires the Highway Assist Pack, the LIDAR Sensor Suite, and an active connection via the “Connectivity Prestige Package” or external Wi-Fi. Additionally, route guidance must be enabled through the vehicle’s integrated navigation system. This feature is available only on supported routes.
