Changan has launched the Nevo Q06 in China, a mid-size SUV that comes with a significant advantage: its design was created by Klaus Zyciora, former head of design at Volkswagen and current vice president of Changan Automobile. This model competes directly with the BYD Seal U, one of the best-selling SUVs in its segment in the European market. The Nevo Q06 was designed with international markets in mind, meaning it will arrive in Europe where it will compete alongside other existing models such as the Deepal S05.

The Nevo Q06 features a stylized body, prominent fenders, a sloping hood, split headlights, a single rear light unit, and semi-hidden door handles. The car measures 4,837 mm in length, 1,970 mm in width, and 1,670 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,940 mm. It is equipped with 20-inch tires and has an aerodynamic coefficient of 0.27 Cd. Changan is one of China’s leading automakers, also known for its numerous collaborations with foreign brands such as Mazda. Thanks to these partnerships, we’ve seen cars like the Mazda6e.

A minimalist interior with plenty of space

The cabin features a minimalist aesthetic, with a 15.6-inch touchscreen on the dashboard and a cluster of physical controls next to it. Behind a D-shaped steering wheel is a small digital instrument panel. The car also includes a head-up display, a wireless phone charger, and a shift lever mounted on the steering column. According to Changan, soft materials cover 90.6% of the cabin, while ambient lighting extends over 4,450 mm of the interior space.

The Nevo Q06 offers a space utilization rate of 91.7%. The second-row seats feature electric reclining up to 145 degrees and a 28-point massage function, while the front seats include a zero-gravity mode. The ceiling has a retractable screen, and beneath the central tunnel lies a small 9.5-liter refrigerator. The trunk provides 782 liters of capacity standard, which can be expanded to 2,200 liters by folding down the rear seats. The electric version also includes a 196-liter compartment under the front hood.

Three electric configurations and one extended-range version

The base version of the Nevo Q06 BEV comes standard with a single electric motor in the rear axle delivering 225 kW (302 hp), paired with a 66 kWh LFP battery, capable of providing a CLTC range of 602 kilometers (494 km WLTP). The more powerful variant combines a 245 kW (329 hp) motor with an 80 kWh LFP battery, resulting in a total CLTC range of 700 kilometers (574 km WLTP). There is also a dual-motor, rear-wheel-drive version with a maximum power of 330 kW (443 hp) and the same 80 kWh battery, offering a CLTC range of 670 kilometers (549 km WLTP) and an acceleration time from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.8 seconds.

The Extended Range Edition (EREV) features a 1.5-liter atmospheric gasoline engine under the hood that functions solely as a generator, with a maximum power output of 72 kW (97 hp). It comes standard with two electric motors on the rear axle, delivering a combined power of 270 kW (362 hp), achieving 0 to 100 km/h in 5.8 seconds. This variant uses a 28.39 kWh LFP battery, providing a CLTC range of 200 kilometers (164 km WLTP).

Six versions and a well-established direct rival

The range consists of six configurations: the Nevo Q06 602 Premium at 139,900 yuan (18,187 euros), the 602 Smart at 149,900 yuan (19,487 euros), the 700 Smart at 159,900 yuan (20,787 euros), the 700 Ultimate and the 670 Dual-Motor Smart, both at 169,900 yuan (22,087 euros), and the EREV 1600 Dual-Motor at 151,900 yuan (19,747 euros). Its main rival, the BYD Song Ultra, is priced between 129,900 and 179,900 yuan, roughly 16,887 to 23,387 euros. We still don’t know when it will arrive in Europe, though everything suggests it will come by mid-next year.
