Used electric cars from leasing programs usually have batteries in very good condition.

Gradually, buyers' unfounded fears about the possible premature degradation of electric vehicle batteries are fading into oblivion. After years of public hesitation (and several misinformation campaigns along the way), reality has become apparent: batteries are proving to be more durable than many had anticipated.
This, in turn, is encouraging more and more buyers to consider purchasing used electric vehicles, a market that is growing due to rising fuel prices. Since electric vehicles are often acquired through leasing or rental programs, an increasingly wide range of used electric vehicles is coming onto the market.
According to a recent report by Ayvens, a French-based car rental and fleet management company, the batteries in leased electric vehicles are usually in very good condition after the initial rental period, making them a highly attractive option in the used car market. After analyzing nearly 7,300 electric vehicles after their rental period, the findings are clear: with an average mileage of 55,000 km, the battery health rate is at 95.5%.
It is interesting to note that the degradation of electric vehicle batteries is not linear, as it is more pronounced at first and gradually stabilizes over distance. This makes the previously mentioned percentage even more significant, since even during the initial period of use, the average degradation is quite low, ensuring a long service life.

There is growing demand for used electric vehicles
"Our evaluations do not confirm the concern that an electric car’s battery will lose significant performance after a few years; on the contrary, we achieve very good results when returning our rental vehicles. This provides strong support for used electric cars and shows that batteries still have a lot of potential even after their first rental period," says Martin Kössler, CEO of Ayvens in Germany.
The used electric cars sold by Ayvens come with a battery health certificate (SoH) issued by the Austrian specialist Aviloo. “The SoH certificate provides transparency about its actual condition, thus offering greater safety for used car buyers,” says Ayvens. After all, we must keep in mind that the battery is usually the most expensive component in an electric car.

Other factors driving demand for used electric cars include the growing number of public charging stations, as well as the lower maintenance costs associated with these models compared to their internal combustion engine counterparts.
